Question
1. Are you male or female?
2. When or which year/month do you graduate from university/join the ministry?
3. I suppose you got pass or pass with merit degree.

I'm male, 32 this year, BEng (2nd lower).
Worked as a teacher till 29, earning 4.2k when I left.
The 3 years I spent in the teaching service was more siong than NS... my life was totally consumed by work. Teaching itself was alright though :P
When my bond was over, I switched to the private sector, working as a designer. This is my dream job, as I'm passionate about art and design. I was very happy back then, even though I took a 15% paycut.
Now, 2.5 years down the road, I'm making 4k a month, still loving the work. However, I'm getting increasingly disgrunted about my relatively low pay, seeing that the majority of my friends are easily making 1-2k more than me. I'm also somewhat affected by the fact that my work is "non-graduate" in nature... it's silly, I know.
Now seriously considering going back to the teaching service for maybe 500-1000 more per month, is it worth it?

Quite simply, no. Unless you want your life to be consumed by work again.
Work you don't have the passion for.

I have a question...
do officers on the MX scheme get any year end bonus, or any bonus at all, if they are on probation (ie. join < 1 year)

should be at a pro-rated bonus,
eg, if u join the ministry 1st july, then in Dec you got 50% of what the actual bonus is

For MOE, after the interview does it mean the longer you wait the higher chances you will get the job?
Do they normally inform those unsuccessful first?

Dear All,
I'm pursuing my Masters in Economics currently and will be graduating by end of this year. I have 4 years of work experience, 2 years in banking ops and 2 years as an educator. My pay is around 3.2K...got a pay cut when I switched from private to public sector.
I am intending to join places like the MAS, MTI etc.
Do you think the chances are slim and what should I state as my expected pay?
Thank you!
