what is the meaning of 2nd interview?

Hello all, i was called n informed tat i m invited for a 2nd round of interview. i would like to know basically wat it means?

this company is a mnc foreign company selling so it products.

during the 2nd round of interview, wat is the employer trying to find out?
usually how many will they shortlist for 2nd round?
usually how long will they take to give a reply?

i know every company practice varies but maybe as a snr within ur company u can share ur experience? thank alot.

Er that depends on what / who interviewed you during the first round. Could be to find out more about you / your experience etc as well as meeting more senior management.

The number of pple they shortlist would depend on how many pple applied and how many rounds of interviews are there. Usually companies should give a reply within the week if not you should call them to ask the status.

Most places have 2-3 rounds of interview..very common leh. First round with HR asking standard questions, checking your background and certs. 2nd round with direct manager to see your character and previous experience and work knowledge. 3rd round to meet with direct manager and his superiors like head of department and other heads.

My last job was 1st round: HR + do a 2-hour test, 2nd round: Head of department and 2 department seniors, 3rd round: head of department and GM from head office who came to meet last round shortlisted candidates.
