Hi guys please help, went for final interview in mid October, called up next day by HR with verbal offer discussing salary and title and submitted documents (ns transcripts, marriage cert etc..) 1 month later no news so I called up and suddenly they say application on hold and will consider again once they finish all interviews?

Does such things usually happen? Was expecting to an official offer to come right about now..

I applied in Jan
Informal chat in march and passed the aptitude test in the same month
April interview then no news
Until june said intend to bring me in but no headcount
Senior management approved headcount in august
But asked me go for second interview in October
1 week later told me selected another candidate

What was discussed during the verbal offer call? Did she ask you on whether you will accept? Did they say they would proceed with reference checks? Have to make sure it’s an actual verbal offer, not just a keen to proceed.

Nope.

More likely that a quitter changed his heart and mind.

Now he's doing what the boss wants and more.

He realizes that he is not indispensable.

Yes, they can be revoked and they have been revoked.

Sometimes, it has nothing to do with the applicant.
