Thanks for the response. Just having concern that they do not convert after contract ends. It is common in private sector when the company wants flexibility in managing their headcount due to cost issues. But public sector should not be cost issues right? Wonder why they always offer contract first. If it is to see whether the staff can perform, then isnt a 3 or 6 months probation period sufficient to judge work performance? Being offered contract is quite demoralizing especially when need to choose between public sector contract and pte sector perm job.

Does anyone know how long it takes for EDB to get back to you (if you're shortlisted) after the 1st phone interview/screening? Thanks!

I've applied a SB job recently and the close date has passed two weeks already. In the auto-reply email, it stated "If you are shortlisted for an interview, we will be in touch with you within 8 weeks with more information. In the meantime, please track the status of your application on Careers@Gov."

No call no email....Status still shows submitted.....if the position is readily available, why they need 8 weeks to just call a person for interview??

anyone has more info on the hiring process for MTI? how long of a wait to expect between interview rounds? thx!

EDB seems to be very efficient by SB standard. After the screening I was asked to go for face to face interview two days, which was held the following week.

Just want to know whether a verbal offer is concrete and legally binding, and how long does "pending (of) management approval" usually takes?
