Thanks for the reply! But oh my, 10 months?!?! That's from the time of application or from the date of interview? Hmm if they only accept the top then I should just give up hope already :'(

returning to civil service after nearly 2 years in semi-govt sector
Hi, just wanted to find out what my chances/likelihood of getting called up for interview if I applied for CS jobs again, if i used to be in ministry?
Some bckgd: I was previously working with ministry for 3 years as a dip holder, left after contract ended. Joined semi-govt (government linked company) on a 2 yr contract basis (entered as a deg holder, pass with merit at unisim). Now thinking of joining back CS with same ministry but different job positions.
thanks!

A*STAR Hiring process
Hi, anyone went through the hiring process with A*Star before? ''
I was referred to a position by someone working in A*STAR, went through 3 rounds of interviews (the last one being 1 month ago). Just 2 weeks back, HR called to ask me for 2 referees, of which i have given to them, and my referees also submitted their reports to HR since last week. Have not heard from HR since. Is it safe to say i have no more chance? Or should i give it more time? Hope to hear from you guys. TIA!

To be clear, when you say A*STAR do you mean HQ? Or shared services? Or one of the Research Institutes under A*STAR? Nonetheless, I wonder why would you be interested in going there!

Hi, the position i applied for is not a research position. I applied as i thought the job fits well with my experience. Were you from there? Or have had any experience with the recruitment process with them before? Any thoughts?

The recruitment process is similar to most public agencies. So where are you applying to? Cause it is different from Research Institution as compared to HQ.

HQ. Does Hq take typically longer compared to the research institutions?

I think it varies. In my time i had both the essay and interview on the same day. Next day they called me up to offer already. It also depends on the level of job you are applying for, whether it is entry level or mid-career.
If its mid-career, they tend to be slower as they want to exhaust all potential candidates first before selecting the best. Then again, this varies across departments in HQ. That's why i say it is a complex place. One word of advice, what they listed as the JD may not be what you are doing eventually. Sure it may be like 50 - 60% of your job OUTCOME, but you got to be clear what processes are you doing. And the culture of the org is one that is scholar centric, and PhD centric.

Did you apply for the Information Officer position? I'm waiting for the outcome as well.
