the hiring side did tell u they r doing the background checks when u ask them for interim updates?

Yes went for interview. Verbally offered. They said they will need to do background check first before coming back with the salary package

Yup, it had been 2 months plus though. Never ending waiting. Always says in progress.

mines was apply mid Aug
did the video pre-interview in end Aug
panel interview 3rd week Sept

still in progress.
the HR person also was away on 2-weeks leave and just back yesterday.

if they nvr upfront reject, there's still some hope right?

my case is they told me they would like to proceed with application. Then send me some links to complete task at workdays.

Don’t worry.

I got 1st interview
Then 2nd interview 2 weeks later
Got offer 1 month later from the 2nd interview

So total is around 1.5 mths

Hi all,

I read the threads from 1 year back to get a feel of what it is like applying in gov sector as this is my first time. Currently working in pte sector with almost 15 YOE.

I applied for an SB under MCCY.
Cleared 2 rounds of interviews (in Sept & Oct - about 2 weeks apart)
Currently received a verbal offer 2 days ago from HR. Asked her if can give an email offer but she says not possible as currently although I am already selected, there is still a process that is needed to clear approval from other external agencies.
She also mentioned there are some cases where these approvals take so long (6months-1 year), that they had to drop the candidate.

Asked her how long she would expect to process my approval & that maybe can get it by mid or end Nov.

Now I am anxiously waiting coz I really would like to join this SB, also I have been keen to join gov sector for a long time.

Anyone else had an experience where your offer is pending approval from external agencies?
