I agree. I know a lot of people like this. Although I have different principles (I DO NOT consider managerial posts as the highest possible career peak), I respect their decisions due to, yes, the glamour. THAT i understand, coming from a long line of "corporate slaves."

I don't know... I've come to accept the fact that the majority of career folks here have the tendency to over-rate/over-glorify the managerial job description like it's the closest thing to kingship. And I share your interest to seek advise from people on the specialist track.

look at the new home team specialist scheme. mindef has it earlier e.g. csit, dsta etc (I even suspect dxo may have similar scheme). And it's not limited to just IT

dsta is a stat board not part of CS
