Teachers knock off on time? Says who? The last I checked my colleagues brought their worksheets home for marking. We work on school holidays too.

While everyone is trying to aim for leadership positions, sometimes i wonder if the true winners are the people who do the bare minimum from GEO1 to GEO4. While maintaining their sanity and work life balance, they manage to bring home 6k salaries. One has to question if that extra 2k a month is worth all the trouble, extra work and politics.

After being on both sides (worked as a teacher and now working elsewhere with some days wfh), I feel that being a teacher is physically and emotionally tiring but working elsewhere can be more taxing cognitively. Teaching is actually quite nice and not that tough (not that tough to do well also) BUT what isn’t that nice about teaching is that there is no flexibility in taking leave. While there are provisions for urgent leave, you cannot suddenly decide that you need a break and would want to take AL. This is why at my current stage of life, I want a job that offers me the flexibility of taking leave whenever I want.

depends where your teach . teaching in a jc is cognitively draining af. N we don’t use textbooks for whatever reasons. all JCs produce material in house, n the amt of editing, syncronising across chapters is insane.

So, if a teacher is able complete all during officer time vs someone who constantly take home work, the latter is better? It really depends on situation.
