Used to work As a private tutor charging 100ph. But only could find about 4 to 5 students at this rate. And no of students reduces during sch holidays. Realized that still couldn't earn more than what a degree holder with a proper job (with bonus, medical benefits, CPF) can get in a year. Hence switched to a full time job after a year.

Hello, does anyone know the salary increment for:
Geo 2 to Geo 3?
Geo 3 to Geo 4?
Thank you. I heard the letter is out. So if someone has it and it is stated, just wondering what the amount is. Thanks!

there's 2 sets of increment components when promotion occurs:
Merit Increment (MI) + Promotion Increment (PI)
MI depends on your Performance Grade, while PI should be uniform for all.
For a C grader who got promoted to GEO4, the total increment is 470. The MI for a C grade is 185, so the PI should be 285.
definitely the salary increment is not the most competitive, but most if not all will be contented esp with sg's economic uncertainties ahead of us.

Hi, just wondering, would it be better to sign on to MOE or work at a private education centre? Is the pay difference very great? I'm a fresh graduate, 2nd uppers.

join MOE, then quit once your bond is up. you'll be able to command a much higher rate as an 'ex- MOE' trained teacher. but of course, it's much harder to get in currently as MOE has reduced their teacher intake. all the best!
