A do and wait process.
Went thru' the same processes many applicant had been thru'. In fact, twice.
1st attempt.
Jan 2016 - Went for PT in Dec 15. Got an interview and was one of the two applicants to be shortlisted. Site preview 2 weeks later. Got a rejection email 3 weeks later after the 1st choice signed the letter.
2nd attempt.
Went for PT in Nov 17. Got rejection email 5 days later. Got a call in early Jan 18 for another position. Went for Interview in mid-Jan. One week on .........and still waiting.
Hope this give a picture on what to expect.

naval officer pay
Hey guys I would like to clarify some concerns I am having with regards to my application as a naval officer. I know this isn't DXO but I am desperate for help now..
I applied end of last year and as a naval officer with the RSN and am due to sign the contract next month. I have a honour's degree from SIT with the University of Glasgow.
I would just like to know if I am entitled to a degree pay considering I have a local degree? Yes, I have asked the navy about my concern regarding the pay but I haven't received any reply as of yet.
I greatly appreciate any response to this post. Thanks lads.

Hi happened to chance upon the navy comment.
When you go for contract signing, your expected salary should be on your contract.
In any case, most of my batch mates getting their degree from SIT are entitled to graduate salary scheme, the exact salary pending your class of honours.
In any case, would be wise for you to contact NRC directly. Give them a call.

Does this mean that there's likely zero chance of being selected if you sent in your application approx. 1 month ago and you've not heard anything till today?

I don't know whether this has been posted before, but I haven't seen a post of a similar nature during a brief read-through of the 186 pages in this thread.
Context:
I am in my final semester in NUS - expecting to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts (2nd Upper Hons). Medically-fit Singaporean male.
Issue:
I applied for the positions of DXO (Defence Relations) and DXO (Media Relations) in late January. I remembered that I had to send in a manual application because the portal was under maintenance.
The reply from HR was that if I am shortlisted, I will be notified within 2 weeks. However, it has been slightly past that deadline and still no news.
Thus, is it common for people to fail in their job application even before Psychometric Test?

just to give back to this forum because it helped me so much during whole job application process... was always reading and re-reading all 186 pages of this whenever i was feeling insecure
Context: NUS second uppers
Timeline:
Feb 2017 - applied
Mar - psychometric
Jul - shortlisted for 1st choice, fell sick and didn't go for interview
Aug - shortlisted again for same role but for higher position (manager). went for 2h writing test + interview but was not too keen on job scope. got rejected.
Sep - submitted another application with re-rankings of other available positions
Late Nov - shortlisted for another first choice position. 2h writing test followed by interview. On the same evening, got a text for the site preview scheduled for 2 days later. Went for it but there was another candidate with me. Got my rejection a week later. (Early dec)
Thought that was the end of it... went on a holiday... right before coming back i submitted another job application with different choices and got an email the next day if i would like the same position (as the nov interview). Of course i said yes!!! This was in second week of january. Was told it would take 4-6 weeks for final contract.
Medical and security clearances in the next three weeks, got the confirmation a week later, signed my contract in total 4.5 weeks after the verbal offer.
Will be starting soon and I learnt that the other candidate got the job in the previous site preview, but a new vacancy opened up and i was lucky enough that they still remembered and still wanted me. So my words to everyone are: don't give up and always try to do your best!!
another note: My thoughts after being interviewed with several other govt agencies/positions that only have 1 opening is that: if you are the first to be interviewed, you are likely already their first choice based on resume alone. Thereafter depends on how you do for the writing test, interview and site preview.
