Canít comment on EDB but I heard while more competitive than ESG, the culture there isnít as cutthroat as ESG.

Like some of the previous posts have mentioned, itís a pressure cooker because tons of fresh ADPs/DPs are scrambling for high visibility projects and these often involves office politicking.

For example, ADPs/DPs holding high-impact portfolios such as Global Markets/International Desk/Digitalization will have more work visibility than those working in Outreach & Market Connectivity. This results in the former group to move up faster in the career ladder.

Do also note that portfolio assignments is according to the whims of the directors overseeing them (so better angkat well when youíre an MA). Itís not much of a meritocracy lol.

All in all, Iíd say ESG has a good mixture of candidates ranging from local uni to private uni kids. Just donít screw up your case interviews and youíre good. The experience garnered in this agency is transferable to mid-tier consultancy if you do decide to do a lateral jump.

But aren't the progression for MAs standardised?

Why would there be so much politicking?

Thanks for sharing! Which industries portfolios are considered 'high impact"?

To shed more light on the typical progression.

MA (graduate program) ó> Asst Dev Partner/Biz Manager ó> Dev Partner/Biz Manager ó> Sr Dev Partner/Biz Manager (typical career ceiling for most) ó> Deputy Director ó> Director

Associate ó> Sr Associate ó> [insert fancy project name] Specialist ó> Dev Partner/Biz Manager ó> Sr Dev Partner/Biz Manager (typical career ceiling for most) ó> Deputy Director ó> Director

Do note that while technically hierarchically lower, some Specialists in ESG earn more than Dev Partners/Biz Managers.
Hello. Do you know many years does it typically take for both track to climb up in rank?
