Yes, they did a quiet layoff in the smart cities BU by not extending those on contracts, outsources + 0 bonus for the existing staff.
They should also reflect on themselves if their offerings are actually competitive with the competition.

They should also reflect on how their kindness in the quiet expiry of contracts has been misconstrued by the ungrateful.
Perhaps, they should have terminated the contract staff when their services were no longer required.
That would have saved some money and avoided the ungrateful comments.

Contract staff aren't perm staff. There's an end date to the contract, subject to renewals. Same thing as other companies..

Contracts can be terminated before their expiry.
If contract staff are not required, they can be terminated before their contract expiry.
Some companies are kind to keep them till their contracts expire.
Ingrates will complain about the alleged low pay.

Low pay is low pay la. They have the right to be unhappy what. Not open secret ST pays lower than market. It is a fact. This counter argument 'to be grateful' has been abused to justify things that should be called out for what it is. You not in their shoes obviously can talk so easy right?

Don't burn bridges.
Employers don't like ingrates who badmouth their previous companies.
You are not in the shoes of employers.

Employees don't like being at the short end of the stick either, being the first ones to be laid off, in addition to already being paid less than market rate. Whether companies like it or not, employees ARE their business. It's the employees that help generate the companies' revenue, but no, boohoo employee salaries are too exp here. Employees deserve their market worth.
You are not in the shoes of employees either.
Get off your high horse. You don't get to talk down on people, especially in this matter.
