Yes. You should be ashamed that the typical young punk "financial consultant" whom you always see in heartland branches makes more than you.

Ha....if the reason why you are crying is because of your stretched resources, from buying
the big luxurious bungalow, then it a whole different story.

Bottom line is: Live within your means.

Person A: Borrow to the hilt to live in a condo and drives a BMW.
If he loses his job, he's a goner.
or

Person B: Debt free. Lives in a HDB, drives a Toyota.
Has 2 years of savings to see him through a recession.

For me, the choice is clear.
eerrrrrrr..... you forgot Person C & D. Remember, there's always 4 options in MCQ.

Person C:-
- Debt free.
- Live in a Good Class Bungalow
- Have an account in the Swiss bank
- Have 1 Ferrari, 2 Porsches & 1 BMW
- Mistress in Taiwan.

Person D:-
- have his/her own plot of land. Quite big
- Grow own food.
- Raise own livestock
- answer to no one but God
- no rat race.
- spend more time with family and friends
- lifestyle at a slower pace.

Choice is obvious. I choose to be Person D. Unfortunately, it's not applicable in Singapore. Solution? Migration. Where? I'm thinking of Indonesia.

No wonder oct 28 ST reports that the average car loan in sg is $85k.
I also read recently total outstanding mortage loan in sg is growing at >20% per year which is much greater than inflation+gdp growth.

A recipe of disaster...

C is the correct choice. C can live D's life if he wants and if he gets skin cancer after toiling under the sun, he can always fly back from Indonesia to Gleneagles to have his melanoma removed.

You probably won't be affected by the retrenchment.

Why are you so diffident?

To answer your question, foreign banks like Stanchart and HSBC are more generous in their pay packages. But why jump from the prestigious IB to low end sales?

Perhaps a lifestyle switch?

Hi, I joined as an associate, base is S$120k. (previously worked in a related line for 2 years)Waiting for my 1st year of bonus. What's the benchmark for bonus this year? (I already know it is a bad year.. but how bad?) And is my base pay low? How come yours is 165k ? what's your level? And I didnt get any sign-on..

Your S$165k includes housing allowance? I just want to benchmark.. thks!

I didnt get a sign-on because I am a local grad.
