SIA Administrative officer vs CPIO
Hey guys, i sincerely need your opinion.
I am offeed by both SIA and Cpib but i dunno which is a better choice to take up
In sia, i will b paid 3k, need to travel n will b rotated every 2 yrs. On the other hand, cpib is paid 1k more at 4k. As Sia is a glc, will my pay in SIA ever catch up with that in cpib aka public service?
Which career will u choose?

CPIB pay is high for a good reason, most people once they get in is very dfficult to leave even to another gov org. Most likely you will find your pay stagnating once you hit 6k in early 30s & slowly crawl up to 9k for the next 30 yrs.
SIA is just another pte sector, you can always hop ard to other companies. Starting pay will be low, less job security, but unlike CPIB you will not be stuck at some 9k ceiling at retirement. Really depend on what you want in life.
BTW pay for SIA senior managers is public info, you can check out in their governance discolsure, all are >$1m annual pay + >$0.4M share bonus IIRC, so definitely in a totally different league compared to CPIB in terms of pay ceiling. But of course whether you can reach that level is another story...

under normal condition, 1A to 2B take 3 years if nothing screw up..
with annual increment and grade increment to 2B in 3 years, you should be getting approx 4.2k.....you will need another 3-4 years to hit 5k then....
for the CPIB , you should be getting 5-5.5k after 3 years, need another 3-4 years to hit 6.5-7k

Upz for good post.
One should decide to join specialise civil service or private sector with a long term view and match base on desire for job security, career progression and glass ceiling.
It is silly to be so hung up over starting pay, what honors class, got NS or not, this are small matters over the long term.
