just to provide a different perspective...
in recent years, the number of KPs are becoming super saturated...getting appointed is also becoming very competitive. its the same for STs as well. certain schools have nearly 25 KPs, not including STs and SLs
if u are just a farmer, your contributions and portfolio need to be even more impressive over a longer period of time to succeed in the interview
your RO and SLs must strongly support and push for u
u are considered lucky if there is a vacancy and the timing is just right for u to fill it
the interview questions are also seemingly becoming more challenging and intense despite the "preparation" - u must be able to react quickly and answer appropriately
some Ps may also just mass nominate people and "try" to see if the interview succeeds
there have also been potential KPs who failed interviews too - its uncommon, but nowadays I wouldn't classify it as "rare"

It stopped being a cohort promotion for a long time already. Even a couple of years before the pandemic, there was already some variation observed in the timing of the geo2 to geo3 promotion for new officers.
This coincided with the HR messaging to officers that promotions are no longer time-bound. Even geo2s have to be assessed suitable for promotion, and therefore can be held back for a certain amount of time if the panel feels they are not up to scratch.

3 reasons why I resigned during my Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) Trainee Teac
Hi, I am going start my Trainee Teacher compulsory teaching stint in December 2025. I read many stories here and other forum about teachers life. I read a story about a untrained teacher resigning during the stint. May I know if anyone has similar experience to the story below?

Many UTs have resigned for all sorts of reasons. In general, they were usually shocked by the work expected of them.
I suggest you keep an open mind and learn as much as you can, instead of just dwelling on the negatives and past experiences of others.

It is true that we take on the same workload as any other experienced teachers with lesser pay. I was put into a class to teach on my own since Day 1; no co-teaching or observations etc. However if you’re lucky, you may get a mentor to shadow first. Good luck.

Untrained teachers are not paid lesser. Some are paid $5200.

Mid career? It is very unfair because some teachers who are in service for 3 years have lesser than that.

Just had my 2nd year end review. I feel demoralised. Despite all the impacts i have made, RO focused heavily the fact that its my first year in the grade and as such there is a default grade. Then reinforced that om still new so pedagogy wise still have a road ahead to improve. When asked in which area of pedagogy exactly, all i got in reply was 21st century ed tech. Its not like i didnt use any ICT tools on my teaching.

The reality is, some feedback are really puzzling and even demoralising when they are not even given with the intention to improve. While it is true that using ICT isnt necessarily 21CC edtech, force feeding edtech doesnt value add learning. You may want to watch for one more year to see if your school value your contributions otherwise there are many other schools you can consider. I know of people given lame feedback just to justify an unfavourable ranking.
