Then why is GIC generating such lousy returns? It should hire geniuses like yourself to manage all its investments.
Lehman Brothers wouldn't have gone bankrupt if you were the CEO.

Believe it or not. My annual income last year is 36k. Exactly 3k a month. Contract basis with no bonus. My investment return last year, including paper gains, is 573k. I spend about 8 hours a day working my day job earning 36k a year. I spend 1 hour every night managing my investments. The effort-payout ratio is totally lopsided
Again it is not how much your day job pays you but how well you invest

Believe not...why are you still working then? Waste 8 hours per day...might as well quit and spend another hour on your trading.

Please, for the sake of us who currently have to get by on just our pathetic salaries alone and struggle to make ends meet, please share with us a few tips on how to be successful in investing. If I can make 10% of what you make through investing alone, already damn power la!

Wow didnt know trading is so profitable. For me I prefer to make money the traditional way through property.
Both of us are 35 this year, normal PMET earners combine income 320k yearly. During 2008 we ga ga dump everything we had to buy a semi-d house for 2.2mil, now base on similar transaction in the area, we estimate the house is worth 4.9mil with mortgage of 1.2mil left, so I guess you can say we have a net worth of 3.7mil currently.

No need to sour grapes just because you cannot make it, open your mind and find out how to improve yourself. dun just jealous and insult blast anyone who has better success than you.
Look at all the post you make - Salary.sg Forums - Search Results Almost all are accuse and namecall others for being stupid, idiot, bullshiiting, moron etc. Be humble and learn from others instead of acting like a jerk.

do you read the "me and my money" section in the sunday times? some of them have stories similar to what is posted here, so are they lying as well?
of course some may not be true, such as consistently making $300K to $400K a year from trading, but making $2M to $3M from property is definitely plausible given the market run-up over the last 10 years and access to relatively cheap loans for leverage (personally i am one who has realized total profits of $1.35M as well as paper gain of $400K to date since i bought my first private property in 2003).

I work in back office and firm does outsourcing for funds. I get exposed to alot of information . I don't trade on the stocks itself because that is illegal. However, the knowledge of flows help me alot in my investment into a related asset class. Which I make a killing regardless of the direction of the equity markets.
If I quit my day job... I lose alot of info

Ain't my salary also pathetic? Two important things in investing 1) leverage 2) competitive advantage.
Fstre index return was 44% last year. STI was 20+%. Did you make at least 20% return last year? If no, and you hoarded cash, you are already behind by at least 20%. Putting money in savings is not saving money. It is losing money.
Of course I can't share with you my trading strategies.. You have to start the learning process yourseld
