Just looking for some advice. I'm not familiar with MNC protocol. I am a degree holder with about 5 years work experience. I rejected an interview last week at a US MNC when I found out that interviewer only has a diploma and his rank is only a senior engineer. I requested for the company to arrange another interview with at least a manager who is also a degree holder. But no one got back to me in the past 1 week and the recruiter also seem to be ghosting too. Since I know that company, should I go and request for an interview personally? I have the mobile phone number of the HR.

I am the OP for #201. I just want to remind you that Diploma holders need to stay in their lane. They should be technicians not engineers. Engineers and managers are meant for Degree holders. And it is my right to be interviewed only by a higher rank since I'm an engineer. This is how it works in real life. If you feel unfair then go and get your degree first before you talk to me. Anyway I will call their HR tomorrow to arrange for an interview myself.

Ah yes, the ancient corporate hierarchy:
Diploma holders fix things, Degree holders talk about fixing things, and the truly elite… demand a higher-ranked interviewer before they even show up.
I especially like the part where you’re planning to call HR yourself to arrange the interview. Nothing screams “future manager” like self-appointing your own panel.
Also fascinating that you believe engineering ability is determined purely by the number of years spent in a lecture hall rather than, you know… competence.
But hey, if the interview doesn’t work out, maybe you can ask HR to upgrade your degree to a Master’s while you’re on the phone. Since that seems to be how things work in your world.

Don't be surprised to find out that the CEO of the MNC was a high school dropout!
Good luck to your way of thinking.

Most Singaporeans can only survive in places that have a structured career progression.
Your Promotion will come when the time comes. Your competence don't matter.
