Even if we assumed the other candidate was offered on the day you had your last interview, it'd take at least a month for that chap to be onboarded (giving time for background checks and the other guy serving his notice period) - and that's the best case assuming his notice period is just one month.
It's more likely the recruitment wasn't treated as an urgent hire. Anyway, did you accept the offer eventually? What dept was the role in?

Possible someone didn't accept, but also possible something funny happened because someone internal didn't want to make it obvious they want to filter people who know their practices. So orchestrating a failed probation isn't out of the equation. Depends which team or division. Not unusual to see scapegoats here.

Does JP Morgan take in fresh grads for their cybersecurity team? Any leetcode?
My friend says easy to get in, but he converted as intern.

No Lah far fetch. The payout btwn an AVP in DBS and an associate in JP, is a big gap.
An Associate in DBS, annual payout is around $100K. An AVP is been paid $250K annually.

Why u want to go into banks when you are an IT person?
Why becomes a support role? It wont pay u that well if you are a support role. And you will be on chopping board when the economy does badly, word of advice, go find IT company.

If you’re a fresh grad, there’s Software engineering program. It’s a general pipeline to take in fresh grads. The interns I know of still know how to code, although won’t be asking how to reverse linked lists etc. For actual work, depends on whether or not the role you’re joining is Sec ops or Sec Engineering. Ops usually don’t need. Engineering on the other hand needs to know code. Think of ops like people using the SIEM whereas engineering is people deploying/managing the SIEM.
