Citibank or HSBC?
gt offered retail banking sales role in both banks. remuneration is generally about the same.
which will you guys choose? thinking about:
1) company culture
2) prospects of both banks
3) types of customers
4) remuneration (though its about the same but which bank tend to be more generous and fair?)
5) welfare of staffs
any other factors i should consider?

Doesnt matter lah, just a glorified store sales assistant job with lousy pay long hours. Get the exp and move on to private / investment banking.

If you already have sales exp and with a degree, why take up this kind of dead end retail job?
If you are interested in selling insurance / investment products, it pays more to join a non-banking finance or insurance agency instead.

Dun recommend joining insurance agency.
They take in just about anyone, teach you to ask your friends and families to buy, take all the overriding income from you and once you meet with difficulties, they just leave you alone to die and recruit more newbies.
Worse is your mentor or manager only have O level qualifications and dun even know his stuffs well.
How I know? Cos I experienced not once but twice!

I guess joining a freelance insurance agency requires lots of luck to suss out the manager that is willing to teach u the ropes and tricks of the trade.
Compared to a bank, though selling similar products and much more if you include mortgage loans, credit cards, etc..
And banks will have proper training facilities and programmes coupled with corporate benefits like leaves/bonus. Comes with a trade off with official working hours etc

Assuming both are PB or related roles. Both banks are ok, they give good general training and are leaders in the industry worldwide.

Like you said, you need the experience to move up, more so if you are fresh. Everyone start off somewhere.
I started from a PB too.
Long hours yes, pay is not bad if you work hard. But its true that the pay is not as good as before and its getting increasingly harder. Stressful job too.
Well anyone will give names to whatever job or try to bring you down but most importantly you must have the drive, be motivated and enjoy what you do amap.
