Were you previously a diploma holder?

Depends on role/job. Some roles can accomodate SEO1 subgrade.

Depends on whether you are put in a SEO1 post or not. Every job vacancy in a school/division is a "post", and each post has an establishment grade based on the job desc/title/level of responsibilities. If the estab grade for your post is SEO1, then you are eligible to be promoted to SEO1.

It's more clear-cut in schools because it's mapped to a fixed set of job titles, but in HQ it can be hard to tell from job title alone because of the wide variation.

Hi I tried to apply as FAJT but got rejected. I left the service in june could that be the reason why. Retirement boredom is killing me. If I apply as a relief teacher in REMS, will i get rejected for similar reasons??miss the classroom

Many FAJTs seem quite unhappy with the new scheme's requirements and demands though. In the end most of them would rather retire instead.

If you are really of senior age, I strongly advise you to reconsider. I have witnessed quite a few elderly FAJTs get bombarded with complaints from students and parents. Some schools' management are quite worried about those complaints, and are reluctant to hire those they deem to be out of touch with what happens in the classrooms these days.

Yes im close to the retirement age. Perhaps schools with well-behaved students wouldnt pose me such problems?

What about tuition? The FAJTs in my school are all below 50.
