Your second sentence doesn't logically agree with your first sentence.

My picks:

1. Finance - Singapore is trying to become the financial centre of Asia. Finance definitely will be a popular sector.

2. Food - Not limited to food joints. I am thinking food processing, HACCP-certification consultancy, food logistics and warehousing. This is going to benefit ITE graduates in food science and technology.

3. Healthcare - pharmceutical supplies, lab services, diagnostics and related health tourism spinoffs like medical concierge etc.

4. Legal - M&A, IP management, commercial/maritime arbitration, administration of estates and family offices.

Or perhaps another question is which industry is lacking of the manpower ?
My interpretation is based on job security, therefore opinion as such:

Sunset Industry:
Adult Education (a.k.a Continuing Education & Training) - Over-saturated.

Pharmaceutics -With increase in cost of labour, cost advantage is increasingly diminishing, and our neighbouring countries may move up the value chain. Govt's investment has not achieved the desired effect.

Alternative Energy - There is simply no advantage whatsoever for companies to base their operation here except for govt incentives. Once those wear off, off "they" go.

Sunrise Industry:
Healthcare - Everybody needs it.
Hospitality / Tourism - Like it or not, our IR is here to stay.
Water Treatment - Singapore has a core competitive advantage, but mainly is branching out to other 3rd world countries.

For some professional views, you may check out the EDB website industry prospectus.

Why are you so sure it won't be like your current grass cutting job?

Why did you leave? Why don't you go back?
