Working Remotely from Another Country
Hi All,
I would like to find out if you guys know of any tech companies based in Singapore that are willing to allow you to work for them even though you are physically overseas for say about 3 years?
Apart from Singapore companies, are there any global tech companies that allow you to work from anywhere around the world? (Whether in Singapore or elsewhere)
For info, I am a software engineer in Singapore now, and have to live overseas in a developing country (hence, non-existent good local tech opportunities) for a few years because of family commitments.
Thanks everyone!

Hi a friend of mine is drawing salary from a SG tech company and she is usually working in other countries....sometimes she will travel to SG to attend meetings/ seminars, i guess it depends on the company so yes it's very possible (better check with your hiring manager)...hope it helps

It's 100% possible if you're Singaporean.
If you're not then I don't know. It depends on whether your work VISA allows it or not and whether your company will let you do so or not.
Some companies won't let their employees do it even if they're legally allowed to. ( work visa permits it or they are Singaporeans )
If you need to live overseas for a few years... I can tell you right now, there's 0 chance you will be able to do this. It's a no brainer... why would any company hire you, who can't come to the local office for years?
They might as well just outsource the role to someone else for a much lower pay. ( Which is what they do btw )

Working remotely from another country can be an exciting opportunity to immerse yourself in a new culture while still maintaining your career. One critical aspect to consider, especially if you're thinking of an extended stay, is having updated official documents. While you're planning the move, it's a good idea to ensure your passport is up to date. I recently stumbled upon this service https://photogov.com/passport-photos/ that provides AI-verified passport photos aligned with the requirements of over 96 countries. It could be a real timesaver if you need to update or get a new passport.

And why in blue heaven would they want to pay you SGD while you are working remotely from somewhere else. The company might as well hire someone from india, pay them rupees and tell them they can work anywhere in the world.
