Default What Are Your Best Cost-Saving Tips for Living in Singapore?

Recently came across a video where someone broke down all their monthly expenses living in Singapore. Got me wondering – with everything getting more expensive, how do you all actually save money? Whether it’s cutting down on food expenses, transport, or some random life hacks, would love to hear what works for you.

I get extra money from UOB one account interest, about S$400plus a mth

I save by

1. Using UOB S$6 for S$60 spend at Giant
2. Chas orange 3% off shopping in NTUC
3. Trust Link card for rebates for NTUC fair price shopping
4. Buying toiletries and groceries and medicine in JB
5. Buying toiletries at cheaper neighbourhood stores like CK
6. Charging purchases on my credit cards to get rebates mostly Uob one card

Living in Singapore can be pricey, but here are a few tips that help me save:

Take public transport instead of driving
Eat at hawker centres – tasty and cheap
Shop smart with house brands and sales
Use fans more, aircon less
Make full use of government subsidies and vouchers

Every dollar counts! What works for you?

Totally get where you're coming from — costs here add up fast! For me, a few things help: I cook at home most weekdays (especially lunches), use public transport with the monthly travel pass (super worth it if you commute a lot), and shop groceries at places like FairPrice or Sheng Siong instead of expat-heavy supermarkets. Also, using apps like ShopBack or Fave for cashback and promos saves a surprising amount over time. Little things add up! Curious to hear other people’s hacks too.
