Well, you yourself could be the reason. Everyone likes to think highly of himself.

If you watch all the talent shows, America Idol, Singapore Idol, all the Got Talent and such, you'll see how deluded some people can be. A person who totally can't sing can even proclaim he's the best singing talent ever.
