to have a 60% increment through lateral job hopping is nonsensical. Unless one is very lucky or its a change in industry. Bank's lateral jump is ~15-20%

6k+ at 5 YOE is above average for the average local uni.
Many get stuck in the 5k bracket
This is true, a lot of crappy companies won't even pay 5% increment. Some people can still be stuck at 3k range in their 30s.

That's a steady progression. All with the same insurer?

Yeah, that's why I didn't change company all these years.

So you doubled your salary in 7 years? Considering how much you started at I think you might have managed it by the 4-5 year mark if you'd jumped.

That's nice. I guess you're in a Goldilock Zone where you're enjoying best of both worlds; Visible Progressions & Manageable company/work culture (no too overly toxic relationships).

Yeah, possible but I do also have to consider the non-monetary aspects.

There is good work-life balance here (I generally never need to OT except when projects get delayed). My bosses and peers are nice (I have a lot of autonomy for my work), and the company culture is generally good (there's not much office politics).

So, what I do to try and make up for it is to invest on the side.

Of course, I am not adamant on staying in one company forever but so long as the average increment rate (including bonuses) is satisfactory to me, and the non-monetary aspects are still good, then I will stay on.

Now this is a proper guideline. Putting in the good fight
If you choose to (which you should) change company, then its another 20%
No doubt the annual will be between 80-100k soon.
Don't compare with those 1-2 odd examples that are way up there, its stupid and inflates one's sense of entitlement
