Unsecured loans and impact on job offers
Hi all
Just wanted to check if all MNC employers subject employees to credit check? Are they able to check on your credit report or is this restricted to banks only?
Will it impact your chances getting an offer from a big company? Or only in roles directly managing cash?
Any advice from HR professionals will be helpful, thanks

Many companies do not check their employee's credit scores, so it's up to the company. You can ask if you need to know, before you apply.

Is it true that for job applications with govt agencies, the applicant will be disqualified or fail the security clearance if he/she declares existing outstanding unsecured loans? Can anyone shed some light on this please?

if your unsecured loan / debt is don't know more than how many mths of the salary, think is count as financial embarrassment whh govt agency may deliberate twice if whether to hire the pax?
financial embarrassment iirc may be grounds for the agency to give the golden handshake or something

It depends. If the loan has guarantor(s), it is secured.
Govt agencies tend to have security clearance which will check for any loans or debts.
The quantum also matters.
Some big companies are also known have their own clearance which is similar to govt agencies.
