I am not sure if the new ceiling for non KP holders will be GEO 5A. I sure hope it is for everyone. Every little bit counts.

No. Only GEO 5 classroom teachers who have reached the maximum salary point of GEO 5 and met the performance criteria for promotion will be considered for promotion to GEO 5A. Good-performing (sic) GEO 5 classroom teachers who are not at the maximum point of the GEO 5 salary range will not be eligible for promotion into GEO 5A as the GEO 5A subgrade is meant to provide a longer salary runway only for those who are already at the maximum salary point of GEO 5. As per current practice, good-performing GEO 5 KPs who are eligible for promotion can progress directly to SEO 1. |

Wonder if a KP stepping down from SEO1 will become GEO5A or GEO5 haha.

5A is designed as something to be earned under a specific set of conditions - i.e., already maxed out at GEO5 ceiling and also (still) performing a distinct cut above the rest of their peers. |

Does anyone have experience specializing in one subject after teaching for some time? What advice would you give on when to do this? And what are the pros and cons of doing so?
