Covered for HOD yet nothing. So tired. feel like I’m being overworked for nothing.

2016 GEO 4
2021 KP appointment. B.
2022 c+
2023 B

I am so drained.

I am also covering HOD... u will get it nxt year. jiayou!

Unregistered 01-04-2023 03:17 PM

I don’t see why the need to specify that you are holding KP post here. We only need to know the grade and Mi. No one cares which track you are on

Context: Male GEO5 KP here. KP for 5 years, and a GEO 5 for 3 years by the end of this year. Been in service since 2012.

Merit increment of 2.2%. Around $166. Probably will hit the $8250 GE05 ceiling in 3-4years if SEO 1 doesn't come before that.

My colleague entered service 1 year later than me, very similar path and progression, (though I was actually ahead in terms of salary based on years in service before the revision) just attained G4 in 2023 (MI+PI close to 600). I managed to get G4 in 2022 (MI+PI <400, very close to previous G3 cap) before the revision, and now in 2023 there is less than 30 difference between us. I am now 1 year behind in terms of career, though my performance grades have been equal or better.

Yes, I know I sound like I am nitpicking or calling sour grapes, but I am just listing the facts without any emotions above.

Am in the same boat. Totally not fair that we got promoted earlier, but end up salary is the same or even less than someone who got promoted this year just because they had the boost from lash years salary revision.

Maybe it is useful so that people know and can compare the difference between MI for KP and non-KP? Or for people to realise that perhaps being a KP has no impact on your MI amount?

Just because you don't care doesn't mean no one cares. So don't be a dingbat

Luck of timing…remember years back Seo scale had bigger cut compared to others. Then later on higher increment due to that. Those who were not Seo during pay cut but got the Seo just nice when they raised it had ‘double’ increment

This is such a stupid comment. So you would rather not have been promoted previously? What if the salary revision didn’t happen? Hindsight is 2020

Unregistered 01-04-2023 06:29 PM

Geo3 a mi 4.8%

Unregistered 01-04-2023 07:47 PM

Geo5… mi 2% … next year cap liao

Promoted earlier is always better, especially if you havent hit GEO5.

Hit geo4 earlier means likely hit geo5 earlier also. Silly to wish for delayed promotion.

Unregistered 01-04-2023 09:19 PM

Any other way to view updated salary
I can’t see it now

There are quite a lot of people in this boat. It is just a matter of bad luck. But I really do hope that HR does take note and account for this batch of people in the near future.

Perhaps if enough people send feedback to HR, there will be more hope for this?

Not much use raising to SLs since they probably dunno or won't do much (save for a rare few who would raise to HR to fight for fairness).

I'm not the original poster btw. I know it sounds stupid that some people wish they were promoted later, so that they can have both the higher adjustment, plus higher increment after that, but there is indeed some degree of unfairness, especially if the older batch performed better (grade B and above) while the younger batch performed average (grade C) but both end up at the same salary point.

Quite demotivating for that older batch who worked hard for a good grade to be honest.

highly doubt this will happen to geo4 or 5 because they are the majority of the bell curve, and are not seen to be as "important" as the seo

GEO3 to GEO4
Last PB A
+11.5%

Geo 4 to Geo 5. MI + Promotion around 8.9%.

Unregistered 01-04-2023 10:36 PM

GEO 4 to GEO 5, Promotion increment + merit increment about 10.55%. PB grade was A.

Unregistered 01-04-2023 10:43 PM

2019: geo3 C+ (approx +190)
2020: geo3 C+ (approx +190)
2021: geo3 A (approx +170)
2022: promoted geo4 A (+454)
2023: geo4 C+ (+163)

Fkn stupid. Two As in the two toughest years of my (our) careers, covering KPs who were on study leave, colleagues who were down. Fight so hard during the pandemic and thankfully was recognised by the school's ranking panel.

But the average performing GEO3s that were promoted this year have now sailed past my salary point.

Screw it, I'm done here. Can easily get +40% in the private sector (edu consultancy).

imagine an officer 1 year behind you whose ability and performance is below yours.

2020: geo3 C (approx +170)
2021: geo3 C (approx +100)
2022: geo3 B (approx +175), adjustment (approx +450 to 500)
2023: promoted geo4 B (approx +500 to 550)

you seem to be right about the suay outcome?

Yup. As a GEO4, the 5% adjustment was something like 280 or 290. GEO3s all got at least 450.

In the same boat here.
2021: G3, B
2022: G3->4, A
2023: G4, B

Despite pulling above weight, colleagues who joined 1 year later and always trailed behind interms of equivalent performance and salary point now draws the same pay as me just after promoting to Geo 4 this year. Verified the numbers as we have all along been open about sharing: one of them felt bad for me.

Apart from the generic email found in intranet, anyway knows where we can give our feedback more effectively?

Besides the generic HR email, if you are a scholar and/or on FLP or whatever, you can also write to TMU.

gosh , such basic feedback is known la. u think this things are done by taking out a pencil n drawing scales on a paper??! it’s prob imputed into a system where model shows everthing. ie relative gainers n losers.
teachers in schools can get A or B but lack basic critical thinking skills

Scales always overlap. GEO5 starts from 5150, SEO1 starts from 6400. GEO5A will start from somewhere in between.

(But yes, I'm curious too - would be great if someone was able to share!)

If you are also a teacher, this statement kind of reflects poorly on you and everyone here will wonder how you teach your students.

If you were in the same shoes, would you really immediately go "oh ho things are still so fair to me despite slogging to the max and sacrificing so many things along the way" while others get to overtake you easily?

Think with your heart like a teacher please.

Not the original poster by the way.

Unregistered 02-04-2023 09:05 AM

For 5a should be special be a to qualify for 5a you MUST already be at ceiling for 5 which is 8250. What we want to know is the ceiling. Hopefully a new 5a can tell us. I’m guessing 9k ah

It’s like the batches of previous students whining “oh how I wish there was the AL system during my time… booohoo Hoo life is so unfair. I worked so hard. Students nowadays so lucky. Can get xx AL and can go into ABC sch already. Wish I was born earlier. Life so unfair now they can overtake me.”

You won't get through to this type of person. Enjoyed some success in their own career, suddenly yaya papaya. Seen some young KPs in schools like that. Nice and nurturing to students but treat their colleagues and fellow teachers in the fraternity like shlt.
