Appreciate all responses!

its a general term for recruitment purposes. if you manage to get to the interview stage, you will know its not exactly warehouse management. there is either a contract component or operation component to it. you need to make sure things are running smoothly to support the 'mission'.

and yes, as manager, most probably you will be leading a few ppl. will be good if you have experience in leadership positions.

It is not about whether will thwre be anyone assisting you.

It is more of how are you going to get the team to work as a head(manager).

Start worryig what if you meet people like me who understands your job scope better than you do.

I will start asking if this or that could be done. And you are to use your experience to assist me, this executive, in making a decision.

To put it simpler, you better know what to delegate and do it smartly else you risk falling of the track and get C- next year (should you get in as a manager)

which one did u apply for. don't worry, be patient, i think its a hiring period so HR must be quite busy.

sometimes hiring manager wants to meet everyone decide who to short list for site preview so can take awhile

I applied for one of the HR positions! I hope so >< Or maybe I'm just not their top choice.... Prays for the best!

Unregistered 04-05-2019 10:03 AM

It's probably peak hiring season now. HR shared that all they can do at their end is to send the CVs etc. to the hiring team and from there, it's up to the hiring team whether they want to meet the candidate for an interview. This is contingent on the hiring team manager's schedule(s) and whether they want to wait for more applicants to apply so they have a bigger pool to pick from. So the process can take up to a couple more months if they want to delay the selection.

Hi user,

Thank you for your response. I understand where you are coming from. There definitely bound to be more experienced executives.

fresh grad are usually assistant managers, DX9. for rank comparison, its abit grey. But i would say its considered Captain(DX9-11). DX8 is LTA.

MINDEF does pay a slightly higher premium from other ministries. This is because the role in National defense and we are expected to work longer hours if needed, i.e Weekends/ Shifts/ Operational Duty/overseas deployment. We dont get OT pay. its because of this we get slightly higher and hence a higher budget is needed and not because of higher budget, we get better pay.

DXO hiring procedure

Hi all,

Would like to enquire with users that got offered recently. How long does it usually take between site preview -> medical checkup and subsequently the security clearance. I know there is a range , just wondering about how long as I want something tangible to work with.

Thank you!

Thank you!

Med check up depends on the schedule of the CMPB med ctr. Usually once you’re offered they will be able to the schedule something the follow week.

Anyway, including med and security. The process should take at least 1 month from the verbal offer because you need 1-1.5 mths (depending on the level of access, higher cat the longer time) for g50 clearance and another 2-3 weeks for the computer access.

Don’t give up.

I wonder whats the purpose of such test, like other important ministries also don’t use it..

jiayou, at least you received an invitation for interview within a month compared to most of us here waiting for the interview call/rejection. Based on the posts, you should reapply and they will call you around a week for another interview.

Hi all,

I went for PT on 24th April and just got a call detailing that I was not shortlisted for the jobs I applied for as they already have candidates. HR told me to send in 3 new choices. Just wondering if I should send in applications within the same department or mix it with others (eg. 1 HR job, 1 Comms job). Thanks!

this is sort of a 'fail safe' to filter those who are book smart or are really innately smart/capable.

example. an engineering student with third class honour degree may be much better than a art student with 2nd upper. just because he took a harder course and got a much lower grade, it doesn't reflect reality/real potential. mindef jobs require certain caliber.

of course, this is just one point of reference. other ministry might have other methods.

Is MINDEF’s pay and bonuses higher than the rest of the ministries since defence budget is high?

I applied for 3 communications roles. External and internal communications. I forgot the last one. What about you?

i applied for HR roles but when went for PT they put my 2nd choice instead. But since they ask you to indicate new choices, i think it means that you have pass the PT and now only awaiting hiring manager's interview. Then what 3 new choices did you indicate?

Unregistered 11-05-2019 05:39 PM

what are the prospects for working in MINDEF?

such kind of specialist job, exit options also very limited if the work is too specialised and secretive?

Site Visit

Wondering by which way will they inform you that you are selected for site visit. Email or message?

Thanks in advance!

Thank you for the reply! Was also wondering what is the difference between working in HQ and in camp. Is it going to be tougher in camps as the work hours might not be as balanced as in HQ ?

I think it is more role dependent. HQ like policy works can also be long-hours.

I think some roles leave more on time than others.

what are you applying for, perhaps we can try to debunk it. haha!

I think logistic (i assume your role includes you managing external logistics rather than S4 logistics) then that i would expect pretty much standardised hours and possibly pockets of additional work hrs here and there to make sure that contractors get their job done by the end of the day too?

Mostly camp people (regulars and dxo) would hv standardised days too so i think overall should follow working hours, and maybe some urgent calls here and there after work hours?

Sometimes camp is good because other camp ppl go home on time. I think HQ has more high flyers working OTs, so maybe they could be demanding to some extent too!!

All the best btw!

In-service logistics branch. I think they handle a lot of the camp’s logistic like rations and facilities etc.
