this is very very true. but alot of people dont understand

to share a live example
- during this one year of covid, one of my colleague (mx11a) OT almost everyday until 9pm, and burned quite a number of weekends. he gotten a band A but no promotion
- another one also mx10, perform well in leading role and managing projects. got a band B and promoted to mx10 this yr

both of them are about the same age (35+ now), both joined our agencies 5 yrs ago and promoted to mx11a 3yrs ago.

I got an "Excellent" grade. What is that? B or B- or C+

I think this year's quantum shrunk (understandable) because it seems like quantum could be around 4 months from past achievers.

A grade for GEO subgrades is max 3.5. Some of the worst PBs in the civil service.

SEO grades get more. But it's hard to get A or B at SEO grades.

Haha agreed. Cause usually to promote you would need to have your face at many big project so that the board and your mgmt know you and your potential.

For better grade, your direct boss and boss boss can help you fight but not for promotion since it depends on other factors.

not really.. i was promoted one year into the job.. i was a fresh grad, 2nd upper
got a band 4 but still promoted

If ur boss like u, it can be very fast or if u scholar, over at my ministry to climb to managemsnt post, they send u to complete ur job rotation at policy. Once u come back, wait fir promotion.

Yes. Grade is based on actual performance.
