Recently applied for the Public Service Leadership Programme (PSLP). Got invited for an upcoming psychometric test. Anyone have any advice in terms of preparation? Also would like to hear more about the selection process as well as this programme in general.

Civil service will not offer based on your last drawn. They have their own formula to calculate.

This pay fall within the range of local u, for stat boards. Given that ministry is generally higher paying than stat board, I would say its decent! Congrats op

thank you for the assurance. would like to clarify that 4.3k is gross but further subdivided into the basic salary and MVC NPC and NPVC. does this mean my take-home is lesser?

Generally the 4k range is for corporate role.
5k and above will then be for technical roles.
Since he mentioned 4.3k I would relate to corporate role instead.

To op, don't bother about the mvc and so on, u will just take home 80% of the gross 4.3k (cpf contri 20%). Unless there's additional allowance (taxable too) then just add accordingly

Most of the time, ministries pay more than statboards (generic roles like comma). The only exceptions are those on the specialised schemes in certain statboards like EDB, EnterpriseSG, MAS.

I received an email from my HR regarding to reviewing of starting salaries. I just joined a statboard a few months ago as a new hire as i didn’t opt for movement policy. However the email stated that there’s some revision to starting salaries and i got a bump up of additional 4% from my previous increment. is there any civil service news made on this? i only had the civil service salary adjustment back in last year. so this is pretty new and it came out of sudden.

Higher chance yes but not guaranteed, i would say 50% chance of being offered. I got rejected after my 2nd interview.

DD is relatively attainable for non-scholars provided you want it. Do remember though that CS basically guarantees you about 16 month salary every year (and you can check if your ministry gives special retention bonuses etc that you can aggregate. E.g. dxo gives 2 months every 4 yrs (12 year on starts dipping to 1.5 then 1) but that means you can add ~.5mths to your estimated annual package for the first 8 years of career..

Put another way, if ur goal is 120k salary annually, 8k salary more than enough, which you can hit by 11, 11A (ie being an AD/SAD, which becomes very attainable). If 120k is your goal for the long term, you could get there (depending on ur scheme) even being an individual contributor…(ie senior manager type, MX12)

In CS cannot compare base with pvt, its designed to look low. Some pvt sector ppl will push back say “aiya annual package bo bao” but thats only in pvt sector. The “everybody get” bonus (13m, mid and end year) are at least 2mths a year (less covid or GFC la), and PB u C- also got 1.5m to take, which means u chui (but not bad until get D which is..ppl want to fire u), you will get 15.5m salary/year… given most pvt sector (less IB, high finance), when comparing mthly salary u shld rem ur “real” salary is abt 15-20% more than what it is.

How about fresh grad with FCH and finished NS?

Is it easier to get promoted and higher pay than private?

Unless you are in scholar programme, if not, don't think too much. Now FCH is not really rare or used as a benchmark for promotion, end of the day also you attitude and skillsets. If you think having a FCH should or get promotion faster, i think u better don't join government.

Most of them who are nominated are scholars, i believe. People who demonstrate high potential will be nominated to the ministry… then they go thru the selection process. Would love to find out more also

More of PSD or presidential level kind of scholars. Agency scholars nowadays also don't guarantee promotion. Whatever it is, don't try go short cut la. U can try and see what happens lor.

s://blog.seedly.sg/civil-service-salary/

MX9 (Directors) $16,700 - $22,700
MX10 (Senior Management) $7,600 - $12,300
MX11A (Management) $5,900 - $9,700
MX11 (Management) $4,800 - $7,700
MX12 (Executives) $3,300 - $6,250

Can anyone verify if the above is accurate? Noted that the salary ranges do not overlap (which is unusual). I am MX10 so can confirm that the MX10 salary range stated is correct i.e. $7600-12300

Unregistered 03-11-2023 05:44 PM

Anyone know what’s the selection process like for EDB associate programme? Like do they start rejecting applicants after applying? Or everyone who apply will be invited to next round follow by elimination? Also please share more about this programme if anyone been through etc.
