Is it good to go into restructuring work? Seems like many interesting judgements have been released recently and recession proof.

what are the stereotypes/personality/vibes of SG firms? always interesting to hear such comments instead of general descriptions applicable everywhere

Unregistered 17-02-2024 06:22 PM

what does average grades in law school say about you

Unregistered 18-02-2024 08:53 AM

Does big 4 retain everyone? So long as you perform reasonably satisfactory?

Or will some trainees be asked to leave / not get retained?

Is Part B a valid reason to defer reservist?

Thanks!

yes, it's local studies so generally they would be amenable to granting a deferment but YMMV depending on your unit and superiors. That said Part B is quite chill in terms of scheduling so don't worry to much as long as it doesn't conflict with the actual exams

Unregistered 18-02-2024 12:34 PM

Taking Part B this year, how hectic will the schedule be? Do I need to grind for 6 months or is it something I can slowly pace while relaxing?

Apparently they're saying there's a potential 40% bonus, so potential £168k.

2023 batch did new syllabus, just supposedly without the increased difficulty.

ppl like this fella is why the industry sucks. either you answer the question or you don't. if you cant be helpful, be quiet.

anw OP, exams ran from 5 to 14 Dec 2023. our batch did the "new syllabus without increased difficulty". we had 1 paper a day, so 8 papers in total. it was DRP1-DRP2-PCP1-PCP2-(weekend)-ETH-CCP1-CCP2-CLK. the paper took place from 1430h-1630h.

if u allocating 4-5m u can slowly pace while relaxing. if u only start 2m before it will be painful. it is not hard but there is a lot to do

Yes it was supposedly without the increased difficulty - but you must admit at least, that it was no walk in the park

Do local big 4 take back their assocs / partners after they leave and want to return?

Ie, after joining another big 4 or an intl firm - and they miss the firm they were pupils/trainees at, and want to come back?

Can their previous partner give the green light? Or is HR involved?

Unregistered 25-02-2024 02:14 PM

Wkw

Is WKW a good firm? Pay-wise, exit opp, prestige?

Unregistered 26-02-2024 12:37 AM

Can someone share the latest payscale for big4 from 1 to 3pqe pls? And how much is the pay bump to SA?

Lol as long as you were a normal assoc who didn't screw up (i.e. they trust your work) and you didn't leave because of personality clashes, then no issues.

Thanks for this. I was thinking of trying for an intl firm experience, but wasn’t sure whether to ask my big 4 firm for secondment or just quit and apply for an intl firm
