If there are jia Liao bee SLs, it is not surprisingly to have incompetent KPs. Some just knew how to wayang their way up, claiming credits of others while throwing **** at people. At times, they simply have good brains and prestige status that aid their progression. Pitiful farmers who are capable generally lose the flame in the long run. Some do make it to become HODs, but that will be the furthest they can go.

The higher ups should really look into having the KPs on a tenure. Once the time is up, make way for the younger blood or do a rotation so that no one will be too comfortable doing what he/she is doing.

If you are really competent and know how to ride on the opportunities given to you, you can stand out anywhere. But if you are not, and you end up in a high-performing division like Schools Div, Planning, Special Educational Needs, you will just suffer because you are surrounded by many who are better

Principal in HQ is D or DD?

What are some contributing factors to raise CEP? Is it mainly taking on high stakes projects?

Typically Sch Div (since u are working closely with the supts) and CPDD (small number of officers who will rotate out to become SH/HODs)

Hi, any mid Career from other govt agency, with 10 years service prior to joining MOE as teacher? How's the progression like? Thank you.

Not just taking on, but also being the overall I/C of such projects. You need to be able to show management ability in order to be considered for management positions. Also, while you are drowning in all this extra work, you must keep your T&L and student development work top-notch at all times. If your student-facing work suffers as a result, it will be considered that you cannot handle the extra responsibilities that constitute a management role.

Or you could be a scholar, or full salary PGS recipient :) or get PAT, lol

Agree with Schools Div, a lot of high flyers who are not necessarily prestige scholars strategically go to SD to become Special Assistants. It's a good place to network with Cluster Supts and school leaders, and generally make yourself known .. if you do good work and manage to stand out amongst the go-getters.

CPDD and other Professional Wing divisions.. not so much, tbh. Yes, it's true that pretty much any HQ posting will prepare you in some way for taking up higher appt in schools, but you will still somewhat lack a broad policy view if you are working mainly in curriculum subject teams.

As a former HQ officer, I beg to differ. You can shine anywhere u go in HQ. You are practically involved in policy making in HQ and macro-perspectives acquired will allow you to appreciate the stragetic planning done in school. You will able to see the broad picture, identify and differentiate between structure, processes and activities.

What you are doing in HQ from CPO to AEB, you are at least working on processes that effect at National level, so don't limit yourself to the presumed different prestige of branches or units in HQ. In essence, every HQ work counts.
