Jul 2015: finished PGDE at NIE, started teaching in school
2016: GEO2 (C plus)
April 2017: batch promotion to GEO3 (C)
2018: GEO3 (B).
Left school for HQ via open posting, started at HQ in 2019
2019: Entered HQ, GEO3 (B)
2020: got news of promotion to GEO4

This is considered okay. But for you to get B at HQ means you are there.

A scholar can hit GEO 5 in her 5th year.

2015: Got my GEO 3
From 2015 to 2020, no promotion.

Performance all C except 2020 is C+.
Hit ceiling in 2019 april.

Went to P say no black marks... no C- or D. Ro say good.

But now still no raise.

Total service is 6 yr 3 months and geo 3 is 5 year 4 months.

Super shitty. Moreover, I always finish my work ahead of time and help out. Need to clear my SH **** and they get the credit.

Damn pissed... my progression is slow and messed up right?

The thing is, your performance is relative to others. You finishing your work ahead of time is expected of you. It is nothing out of the ordinary. Clearing your SH **** is not expected of you but probably doesn't warrant a promotion. Your SL and RO are probably telling the truth because looking at your C+, it means you're meeting expectations. However, what they are probably not telling you is that there are others better than you who probably deserve a better grade and a promotion. Perhaps you're surrounded by high performing teachers? Not difficult to see who they are. Compare the work you do with theirs, what is the impact of the work you do? Does it have width and depth?

Are you in charge of any programmes in school?

I mean this is not a asst professor position but a lecturer.
Masters 5.8k for 38 in the teaching industry is norm

Thank you for replying. Are you a lecturer in local poly or how do you know it is a norm?

What is the increment like from geo 3 to 4, and 4 to 5?

I'm a male teacher. n i have been stuck at geo 3 for 7 years already. last promoted in 2013, back then it wasn't called geo 3, it was called something else.

anyway i was stuck in geo 3 from 2013 to 2020. got mostly c with a few C+. i was in charge of 2 years of school level events, also got osca awards before. Plus im a male teacher. All my R.Os over the past few years never highlighted that i commited any major mistakes before. Is my pace of promotion normal?

i have female colleagues who got C- before, colleague who never had to do school level events before, n they all got promoted to geo4 faster than me.

time to change sch?

Just wanted to check, are you a Dip Edder? If you are, chances are progression will be slower than those with degree. I was in a similar situation too. Was promoted to a 2A2 in 2014 then went on 2 year half pay leave to do an upgrade to degree at NIE. Then in 2015, all officers were converted to the GEO no. 1 to 5 scheme and for 2A2s, I was pegged as a GEO 3. Got transferred to a new school in 2016 due to change of home address and got promoted to a 4 this year. So I 'hentak-kaki' for about 6 years. I had approached my VP before regarding this matter and he said it is all at the hands of HQ. He also mentioned, it can be 'time based'. Sometimes I feel, it's also up to whether your P pushes for it / if you have a supportive school culture that recognises your work. For myself, I believe it was a JIT promotion. I joined the service since 2008, as a female, 12 - 2 years (in NIE) as starting out as a Dip Edder should be considered normal. As for yourself, why not seek an appointment with your P and highlight your concerns? All the best, if not in April perhaps in October? Continue to keep your chin up.

I was a dip ed holder, not the BA ed holder or pgde. I joined in 2011, then 2013 got promoted to 2A2. I also went to study at Unisim from 2012 to 2014 n graduated in 2014, followed by my emplacement. Same as you, in 2015, the new GEO scheme kicked in n i was pegged at GEO3. Initially i did thought of this, whether it was because my degree is a so-called second rate degree, that's why i was promoted slower.

But i have 2 other colleagues who did not even take a part time degree, so they are still dip ed holder, but both of them are already geo4, one of them is even a kp. So im thinking it may not be entirely true.

i'm not even asking to be promoted at a super fast rate, i just feel that my rate is too slow. Hen tak kaki at geo 3 for 7 years, by next year it would be 8 years already. Even my colleagues who got C- before or who went to give birth twice before n was away from school for almost a year, all got promoted faster than me.
