Not really. There are still people who are consistently getting Bs and all. They will be promoted first.

Depends on which grade you are trying to get into. Is it a movement from mx11 to mx11a?

If you get two Bs, the third year is an automatic promotion. Unless you screw up big time on the third year. So far, its true for me. 3B and 2C+, promoted twice in 5 years.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

The year after ur promotion, by default ur pb is a 'C'.

How the hell can u get 3 Bs and 2 C+?

Who are u trying to kid?

Am not the person who posted the prev post, but generally true for default is c. Exceptional performing officers can get c+ with justifications to HR.

does this applies for all government job (regardless you are in stat boards, ministries, MOE, minddef, home team etc.)?

Unregistered 12-11-2015 09:51 AM

Would it be normal for a person to get C+ in the first year for confirmation?

Probability is low, unless your performance is exceptional.

There is no such thing as 'automatic' promotion. Someone (aka your HOD) has to press the button.

From your grades, two promotions in five years - one of them should be 'within grade' promotion (no change in your MX grade or even if there is a change, it has an 'A' attached, with the exception of MX11, which has MX11A).

Any idea what is the cutoff date for new employee to join stat board and be entitled to the pro-rated PB in April?

PB is for confirmed officer. Depending on the statutory boards, it can be either six months or one year probation period.

Hmm I got a confirmation (after working one year) in ministry in 2014, but was given B for PB.
Then this year I had an overall promotion across the board (i.e. Everyone who joined the same time as me were all promoted) , but got a C+ for PB. A drop in grade, but colleagues are telling me it's normal :/

jrbearus 12-11-2015 05:27 PM

What is more important is the quantum for each grade. Usually grade will drop together with quantum but when it is translate to actual cash, you should get more or less the same when comparing your promotion year with post promotion year. You can work your way up thereafter.

By the alway, whoever gives those grades are pretty generous.

Well, this is what management told me. If you get two B conservatively, the third year will be a promotion. I am not about to argue with management about that. Just take the promotion and say thank you.

On the years of my promotions, I got C+. I was told by management I would have been given a B if not for the promotions. I heard of the default grade but it is not totally true. For example, in theory, your first year is a default C, but I got a B on my first year.

1st year B
2nd year C+(Promoted)
3rd year B
4th year B
5th year C+(Promoted)

How I did this?
The truth is I put in very long hours. Sat and Sundays included. My HOD is a workaholic and he sees me in the office during the weekends. I put in more hours than my HOD. Not advisable for people looking for work-life balance. I am the first one to say I sacrifice my life for fast promotions.

Similar to MX11

jrbearus 24-11-2015 03:40 PM

Not budging, so 0.5 months for EOY

Unregistered 24-11-2015 10:18 PM

should be between 0.5-0.7 due to economic growth unless govt want to give us extra present for us.

jrbearus 25-11-2015 12:53 PM

Further negotiation on the eoy. So maybe higher than 0.5

Strange. There's B- grade? It's only applicable for Education Officers.

MX11 vs MX11A PB

Can anyone shed light on MX11A bonus ranges vs MX11? My ministry told me no difference while I heard other ministries had. So since 2015 was first round, can we compare pl?

Unregistered 07-02-2016 11:20 AM

PB coming soon. It is also an indication whether the officer will be promoted or not.

Huat Ah !

Let me the veteran in civil service enlighten you. Pb is paid in end March - solely dependent on performance. Separately in July and Dec, cs will receive a standard mid-year and year-end bonuses which are dependent on singapore's economic situation. Overall, pb ranges from 1 - 3.5 months whilst overall generic bonus ranges from 1.75-2.5 months

What a shame that the civil service are saturated with people who think too highly of themselves, because of their outstanding academic credentials...

Btw, are u a scholar or someone with first class honours?

Kudos to U for standing up and voicing out to people who seems self righteous and full of themselves esp when they have not walked the path others had. Be kind to yourselves-one finger pointing to others 3 pointing at yourselves. I read one message saying if you are not ministry PPl you don't need to know and I just laugh it off at her/his high handedness. Really no need to be so rude. It is a public info, in any case. We'd know by mid March;)

btw anywhos... anyone know if pb will be on 20th like last year or 18 or 25th.

ive been noticing a pattern of PB release on Fridays. Any Civil service vets can confirm?

Unregistered 16-02-2016 03:25 PM

Haha actually put things in perspective, people's comments over these two years are the same-don't really change. Hence, so what if 2013😊

Wow need to be so specific ah? Buying 4-D or Toto? Well, if you ask me, one year it was announced on Saturday. Another year yes 20th, (I looked into my crystal ball - this year head civil service/psd and authorities will make annoucement by 19th!) let me know also if you are betting (& win the bet)

JcH 16-02-2016 08:20 PM

Hi! May I know PB is calculated based on calender year or financial year? Thank you

Unregistered 16-02-2016 11:12 PM

Calendar year in the sense that it's your performance for the entire year. When you are appraised it is based on jan-dec. however, funding proposal wise will always be financial year. Why is this info critical?
