May I check what’s your sub grade?

Unregistered 21-03-2021 09:48 AM

Should be moe sch. Poly will only be out end of the month.
Mine typically c is 2.25, c+ 2.75 and b 3.5

Guess will be expecting some cuts.

How many years to move from geo4 to geo5? The people here seem to all have very high CEP...have been a geo4 for ard 4-5 years but my grade is still the same year after year (average grade). Is it advisable to move to a new school?

It's me again haha... Some more info: I'm a JC teacher, currently GEO 3. I was promoted in 2018 from GEO 2 (Trained) to GEO 3.

Many of my friends who usually got C or C+ ended up getting B this year. Myself included, usually got C+. I wonder if there's a particular reason for that.

Unregistered 21-03-2021 03:58 PM

anyone know what is the typical MI for mx11a B+? just to guage whether my MI is cut when i receive them next week.

Although I'm not a teacher, I'm familiar with the ranking exercise in MOE/school. 2019 had to be a default C as is customary for newly promoted officers. Unless u did something extraordinary, u would have gotten another C or C+ in 2020.

I think teachers being an essential/frontline staff during Covid, received a better-than-usual grading in 2021. Again, don't expect the same thing for 2022. To get a B or higher would require u to do a lot more than usual or at least be a KP. Regardless, thank you for your service and keep up the good work :)

Either this coming week or 31 Mar, depending which ministry or SB you are from.

I think lower quantum is confirmed but how much is anyone’s guess.

A Singaporean of working age would have received between $9,000 to $25,000 (ball park range) through the $100 billion Covid package.

Of the $100 billion, the Jobs Support Scheme supported the retention of workers through co-sharing salaries for 10 months (for most sectors) and longer for those harder hit, e.g. aviation. Others go towards supporting businesses and the fight towards covid, such as rental waivers and subsidies, risk-sharing on business loans, etc. Please go to MOF's website for the full list of schemes.

For example, an individual drawing a salary of $4,000, at 75% subsidy during the circuit breaker period, and 50% for the remaining 8 months, each individual would have received $22,000.

Without the Jobs Support Scheme, many companies would have retrenched workers.

For Self-employed Individuals (taxi-drivers, small business owners), they received (up to) $9,000 in three trenches.

For individuals who suffered a pay reduction or forced on temporary no-pay leave, there were schemes such as Temporary Relief Fund (which gave $500 outright) and Covid Support Grant (which supplements $500 every quarter).

The schemes were on top of regular community support programmes for the lower-income and less fortunate.

P.S. Only Singapore Citizens and PRs qualify for the Jobs Support Scheme.

If you are going to raise the GST and more taxes to cover for this shortfall, then the least you could do is climb down from your ivory tower and offer an explanation as to the missing billions spent which the average Singaporean hasn't benefited from. It must be a very flavourful and rich gold tap-like cake that the civil servants are eating from!

Hi, wife got three years of B but no promotion. Why like that? I know it is not a given but her performance has always been very good and hardworking.

Your wife got ask for promotion? Don't have then don't get.
It's like this one. That's why people stop caring at work.

Work hard also no use. People who don't. Get promoted instead because of their personality or extrovertness or closeness to boss.

Nowadays I also don't care about bonus promotion etc. I come to work and I go home.
Can't be bothered. And won't be bothered.

SEO1 to SEO2 takes a loog time especially if CEP is SEO3. Average waiting time is 5-10 years as a KP... Faster if teacher is VP/HOD by mid 30s... Getting good grades only means qualify for promotion but not a given. Many SEO1 out there so have to wait in line.

coz her RO or immediate superior didn't put up for her.

There is no auto promotion unless you bring up or RO put up

Unregistered 22-03-2021 10:26 AM

Even if RO puts up, it also depends on the upper management

Why not?
If you resign and join another job.. It's the same thing over again what?
First you have to prove yourself the first 3 months probation.
Then you need to work extra hard for the first year to see the appraisal bonus how...

Then if bad.. You wasted another year...
Or if bad... You are let go.

Civil service bad or good. You still have a job to wake up to and slack..

Unregistered 22-03-2021 02:11 PM

not everybody likes to buy government bonds, many people like equities even if there are potential swings between positives and negatives.

Such info should be in your intranet. Usually by the end of the month you receive the payout (or plus 1 more month if you are higher than a certain grade). If not sure can ask HR and get it in black/white, when I was leaving a stat board I asked HR cos the policy was not clear for contract staffs and they say they would not tell my bosses I asked.. but !?@#£&+ they did give my RO and department head a heads-up... but no harm done and they act like they didn't know until I officially tendered

Your analogy wrong sia.civil service pay is pegged to private sector.

Aka if private sector now start to give 5 months bonus. Civil service will also...

So civil service is really like government bond low risk but with return that tries to match the index fund
