My HOD. Going on leave next week so I got it earlier. Letter is dated next week. My C grade is the standard grade after promotion (last year) so I guess if I maintain I should be getting B next year?

Sad to see people who dunno anything anyhow spread wrong info and cause panic and distress

I meant to say mx11 and mx 11a share the same quantum. Just like how mx 13 and 12 share the same bonus quantum. Sorry if tt wasnt clear.

As for the 1.75mths pb, this is true. No reason to lie here. Maybe someone else with mx13 this yr can verify. When were you mx13? So i take it tt there really is an increase is bonus quantum across?[/QUOTE]

I am mx12 and c grade and I get 1.5. Can I confirm if u are saying that u are mx13 and c grade and get 1.75? If yes, let me just award u big cannon fairy title

Erm grade C can have a few types of quantum each differing by about 0.1 mto. yes have seen pple get 1.75 for C.

Similarly for C+, some pple get 0.1-0.2 more or less than others with same grade.

Same goes for B.

how to avoid getting C/C-?

You have to build relations with your superiors and take initiatives.

Continue to deliver good quality work - then again this is subjective. Really depends on your boss since it is pegged to your CEP. As much as I would like to believe that bosses are supposed to grade impartially, your relationship with your boss is a consideration too.

End of the day, must be competent at work too, to me it's basic. The rest, like social skills, team work, trainable attitude-endorse it. Must account for the good grade with performance, that's priority. (Not the cliche bootlicking theory, please)

I agree. While all these secondary traits matter too, what ties the soft skills and competence together is having great bosses to guide you and who are willing to fight for you during ranking exercises. It's never easy for everything to fall into place without some luck thrown in the mix but it's the surest way to achieve consistently good performance results.

Does anyone know?

April payroll.

Unregistered 20-03-2016 10:34 AM

Why do civil servants have this weird mentality of hiding their salary and payroll instead of revealing to colleagues. This way can lay out if the employers are downplaying some of you hardworking folks.

7% is a lot. Have you reached salary ceiling already?

Wonder how the percent increment is computed. Got B before , and got just a 4-5% increment. Div 1 also.

Unregistered 20-03-2016 10:05 PM

Same. What a surprise. I thought 3 months nia.

PB bonus

Hi all,

May i enquire what is the criteria of join date to be eligible for PB?
For e.g: if you are a new hire, how many months must you have worked in 2015 to be eligible for PB?

Thanks
Elaine

Unregistered 20-03-2016 10:34 PM

I believe the benchmark for appraisal is 6months, if less it is likely standard Pb rate. However, usually first year it's a default C grade

Unregistered 20-03-2016 10:37 PM

Congrats to the 11a-ers with grade B, 3.5 mth pb. I'd be using my pb for a good big ticket purchase:) looking forward to it!

Unregistered 20-03-2016 10:40 PM

11s too.

seems like the quantum fluctuates every year.

You must

1) Join before 31st Dec of every year. If you are a new hire in December it will be unlikely you get any PB as your salary will be calculated and paid only in Jan.

2) Note that your first PB will always be prorated.

I'm MX11.

2015 - B = 3.5 months
2016 - B = 3.5 months

Looks like it is consistent.

It's not computed by percentage increment. Fixed amounts. The percentage increment will differ for each individual having the same grade because of the different base salary.

2+ depending on performance. There is different bonus even if same grade.

Unregistered 21-03-2016 02:36 PM

Er, more specifically? Referring to C+ - grade 12 and grade 11/11a. Thanks

MX11/11A - Grade C+ = 2.5 months

Unregistered 21-03-2016 06:52 PM

Thanks, reckon grade 12, C+ would be in range of 2.

TEACHER: I WORKED MY *SS OFF FOR ONLY 2MONTHS PERFORMANCE BONUS?!

Submitted by farhan on Mon, 21/03/2016 - 4:27pm

For those of you who are considering joining the civil service as a teacher, think again and don't bother joining this bloated junk system.

For the majority of last year, I worked my *ss off, putting in hours to counsel students, organising CCA activities, covering my head of department during his absence. Although I admit I did this out of dedication to my students, but at the very least I expect to be well compensated for the loss of my time with family and the depreciation in my health.

I fell ill twice as many times in the last year, but I still did not take any medical leave, except for the time when I was really ill with severe diarrhea.

What did the civil service gift me with this week? A big fat C grade for my performance. That entitles me to a total of two months of pay for all of my hard work.

This is a rip off and travesty to all teachers out there who slog our guts out in the hopes of providing a better tomorrow for our own children. Do the higher management in the school board and Ministry understand the sacrifices that teachers have to make by waking up at unearthly hours and leaving school only when the sky is dark? Or do they just sit in their comfortable offices and nod approvingly while their "slave labour" do all the work?

I missed out time with my children and wife, did work that no other teacher wanted to do and for what? The two months bonus can hardly even cover some of my regular medical bills.

If this continues, teachers like myself are just going to end up becoming disillusion and demotivated. Why work so hard when all you get is two months worth of pay which can barely even afford us a short trip to the Maldives? The hours we work could probably earn us much more in the finance and banking sectors.

So if you're a young teacher expecting a bright career in the teaching service, here's your advice. Stay far, far away.
