Seems you are progressing quite fast? You joined mid-career?

Typically from MX12 to MX11, is about 3-5 years, from MX11 to MX11A is another 3-6 years. You can do a rough gauge.

Yes i joined mid career.

And yes, your rough gauge is similar to my rough gauge.

I'm into my 5th year, but on hindsight, maybe should discount my 1st 2 years in civil service. I was on contract and was emplaced after my contract.

I have one colleague, joined as MX13, still at MX13 after more than a year.

The other was MX13 for a while, but that's almost a decade ago, where the MX scheme back then still had MX11A and MX11B

is it possible that default promotions no longer exist? its a guess since there's hearsay that gov is moving away from "time-scales"?

could be that they still give same increments, but delay promotions?

My current is abt 7.3. Which I think should be higher than an MX 11. Uniformed are generally paid more.

Thanks for sharing bro, I'm currently MX11, around 6 months in. Not sure when I will get promoted or whether I'm eligible for promotion or not since I'm on 2 years contract. I'm at 6.6k now, so I'm guess 3 years to hit the ceiling of MX11?

From what i understand, need to be emplaced first to be considered for promotion.

Quite unique to be on contract for a MX11 post. Usually at this rank shld be perm. Is it on a project basis?

Hi ceiling also ok lah, paycheck not bad already. The higher the rank/pay the higher the responsibility. If you are comfortable at this level, why not…

Anyone from ministries already know of your promotion already?

Not project basis, mid career hire so they give MX11.

From my own experience, emplacement is dependent on your performance and perm headcount vacancy

For my case, I was emplaced when a perm headcount opened up, which took me 2 years. I was in a way lucky, with my ok performance.

I have another friend who wasn't so lucky. His boss kept avoiding whenever the emplacement topic pop up

In summary, it all boils down to your performance, and how upfront your boss is, with regards to your emplacement probability, because bosses do have their limitations

ASP2, ten years in svc. Prolly you started off with INSP/RO rank and ASP2 till now seems to be on the path tho. two years stuck with INSP/INSP2 (2) + ASP1 (4years) + ASP2 (4 years). Heard now going to DSP1 hits harder and some people stays ASP2 for five years before the next rank...

All the best for May!!!

If you are on a contract, you are likely on a div or dept that is temporary to complete some projects etc. Similarly to MOH they created a lot of temp positions back then to fight against COVID like Contact tracing centres etc. Now, peace time, most of the positions will cease after that hence the 2 years contract. I am sure before you are going to end your contract, either they recommend you to find other jobs, show you other agencies or ministries job opening etc le.

If internally, they have job opening for perm staff, you can try if you like the organisation with your current experience with them as contract staff.

Nope, you wouldn't be on promotion list because you are contract based.

Unregistered 13-03-2024 04:11 PM

PB official email is out

19 March 2024 is the payment in your bank account!

You can check Work pal/HRP for the letter of PB. Otherwise, your bosses should have informed you privately.

Had a colleague. Non-degree. Local dip.

2020 - MX10
2021 - MX10 (PB: A)
2022 - MX11 (PB: B+)
2023 - MX11 (PB: B+)
2024 - MX11A

Is this progression considered normal in Ministry?

I too was on MX11for the past 2 years. My dept is cui, can't even emplace ppl for the longest time (not one person got emplaced since COVID, and it's a BAU div) whereas other divs get their headcounts and regularisations. Thought I could get a promotion this round but apparently not. Think gonna zao.

Unless he is a scholar then maybe..if not, i dont know what magic he did. The year after promotion usually is a default C or C+. I have seen it at many agencies. I hope those are real if not he is trying to scam you

Yah. But u have to consider this. ASP 2 is a staffer rank whereas MX 11 is easily an Asst Director or Snr Asst Director rank. The job responsibilities is huge for the MX 11 compared to the staffer.

My AD in the same branch is an MX11A drawing abt low 6k and she often complain abt her pay versus her role. She said not worth it leh.

icic, maybe some SB/Min does offer promotion for contract staffers. But IMO, really gg when they tell you "we are reshuffling, you will not be extended with another 2 years of contract". Try to fight for perm if possible, otherwise, take it as a experience to build up your portfolio when you apply for another job.

This is a real issue for uniformed services officers who works till their retirement age and did not continue to study or take up skills. Otherwise, in the future it is really difficult to get a job that command the same pay or just take lower pay in the future.

Age really plays a part. I know one Directorate member (female) retires and hard to get a job. In the end, joined NCCS some nonprofit organisation as some Head or Deputy role or something...

You can always speak to your RO about your work performance during appraisal and highlight the possibility about converting into perm. From there you should know whether they have the estab to give it to you if you are a good staffer.

There's some Min/SB will continue to recontract you lor.... until there's a perm estab ... if not, better have some stand by to look around other min/sb jobs le....

Govt will offer contract first, whether the role is a contract or a perm.

And whether the role is a contract or perm, is not transparent to you, unless you are in the system long enough to observe certain things.

There is really nothing much you can do about it, except to do your best. If you are worthy, your bosses will find ways to make you perm.
