To be fair, it’s not solely due to Indeed's case; however, they were the last straw that broke Govtech’s back. Govtech began in 2016 as a result of the merger between IDA and MDA, forming IMDA and Govtech.
Initially, there were under 2k employees (1.1k in agencies and 800 in HQ), mostly comprising old-timers seconded to agencies as their IT department and support staff in HQ. HQ staff include product teams (GDS/Indeed/NDI), corporate services (HR/finance, governance, procurement, etc.), agency support (CTS, CTMO, SAO, etc.), and Cap centers (DISA, OGP, GIG, CSG, etc.).
Fast forward to post-Covid FY22 (1.6k in agencies and 1.9k in HQ), FY23 (1.6k in agencies and 2.6k in HQ), and projected FY24 (1.5k in agencies and 2.5k in HQ). Figures don't lie; the above data is from the MOF budget's publicly accessible website's establishment list (estimating the current FY's staff count, subject to revision).
While CE said SLM is trimming fat across Govtech, it's evident where the chopping board is headed :) Those from product side should refrain from being arrogance and overbearing and please see the monthly movement list on OneSpace to see how many product side colleagues are jumping ship to SVC. I ever heard they said, they will rather resign than joining SVC….. haha btw only SVC still has available slots, and, lastly, SVC doesn't take in those Grade I team lead with only 3-5 years of exp ;)
