iirc there is a yearly govtech tech hunt that hires perm staff, open to all SWE regardless of experience

Unregistered 11-07-2022 09:54 PM

How many people generally get the conversion from contract to permanent? Hoping to get one as well.

Just perform well and dont do anything funny most will get one

Unregistered 12-07-2022 09:50 PM

Some are offered perm subject to passing probation. So it varies.

Unregistered 13-07-2022 05:01 PM

Other than your suitability in terms of technical ability, length of project, project funding, or just "your face", might depends on the type of headcount this role you are being hired for, is. E.g. perm, expires after x date

From my experience of being converted from Contract to Perm, you will need to attain 2x High Achiever grade by right. It is not easy getting this grade, so work with your RO on how to allocate tasks to you that make you shine. Need your RO to fight for you. Compliments from the team that you're supporting also help.

Unregistered 15-07-2022 02:42 PM

How is the salary like for roles such as application infrastructure engineer, grade G, what is the highest ceiling possible?

Indeed, HA is quite difficult to get, and requires you to have a good relationship with your RO, your RO, and even your RO's RO, to have the will and ability to fight for you. If you have this, you're very lucky.

Unregistered 16-07-2022 11:53 AM

Most won't stay past 2 to 4 years, especially those in tech roles.

So perm or contract doesn't really matter.

That's not true, TAP on 2 years contract and thereafter, they need to join a team to be perm.

You will gain two years of specialist training, and be groomed to take on specialist and/or technology leadership roles within GovTech – accelerating your career development.

Note that u only get the rebase after confirmation. Think they will back pay. Do ask the HR all the questions before signing. Also the extra component for certain roles, new hires dont have till dunno when. And its reviewed periodically. So maybe by the time u are eligible, they removed it.

Nonsense one la.
If they see you don't do much work. Just shake leg. They won't convert la.
Its based on whether they like you or not.

Unregistered 01-08-2022 12:07 PM

Shitty

Every Tom dick and Harry want to be perm.
But no skills etc.
The contract is basically a probation if you can't perform convert you for what

In the golden age of IT, everyone was offered a perm job. Alot slack like ****.
Can't terminate etc. HR or MOM. So end up just playing the give bad bonus bad increment for the staff to leave.

So the industry woke up one day and say all new hire should be contract until they proven.
Then alot will be like I work for you so many years for what if you don't convert me.
Then the other side is like if you can't even work 3 years convert you to perm for what.

And then you have perm staff 10 years working experience take the award and quit also..
Long story short.

Just get high pay. Everything else not important. Contract or perm. Got bonus or incentive or what. All also have to do the saikang job, get complained by customer.

People think tech job is so glamorous. Its actually very shitty
