Well the fact that SVC has very high attrition rate, and GDS/SIOT/DSAI attrition still quite okay, with close to 1/8-1/9 of GDS having promotions last cycle, is quite telling isn't it

Not sure whether it is uniformly true, but generally, those engineering divisions (GDS, SIOT, DSAI, etc) have it better than the rest of GovTech - better than not just SVC, but also the minority of engineers who directly report to non-engineering divisions (product management divisions for example).

What to do, GovTech's founding bedrocks are the precursors of GDS and DSAI, whilst the precursor to SVC is just the legacy burden that GovTech has to carry forward from IDA

Are product managers valued at GovTech? Or better to be engineer?

Better to be engineer - but caveat - only in the engineering divisions (this also includes infra engineering)

Being an engineer in non-engineering divisions or SVC will be kind of sad story

This is very sad indeed, hopefully things will change soon.

Hope for the best and observe for 2yrs.

Actually is still supply and demand as those cap centers are a division by themselves and SVC is one huge big ass division…
GDS, SIOT, GIG, CSG, DSAID < 1000, Having said that all of them combined not even a half of SVC

Every division have a slots for promotion hence we will see the illusion of more promotion by them and also the bulk of them are of junior grade (D,E,F) where else SVC majority (G,H,I)

The higher you go, the harder to promote…

What cap center is this? Why there wouldn’t be any cap center?
