Retirement
Quote:
Other people from other company would have left and seek promotion elsewhere. Fact is alot of people like the relax lifestyle in ST. So no promotion also fine. Only when other people get promoted for doing nothing also, people get mad haha. Other company don't have this problem cause people will be promoted. And people will leave. So the rate of promoting people to retain them is slower than the rate people leaving. ST different. All laojiao dojnnf marathon 10 to 20 years. So promotion is limited cause promote liao the people won't quit. Leech more and longer. So that's why this company is very hesitant in promoting. Peoppe who leave are usually the lower E5 and E6 so no issue. End up is alot of clueless new people. Those on top promoted also lost touch. In between one also gave up and no motivation. Really a retirement village. My division still have people working from home... Cause the boss say they come back office also no use haha. |

Can let you retire and collect pay? This is the best retirement village for those ex regulars who will not survive elsewhere. |

Don't even come to office. Meeting just talk big like they been working everyday from home. Even more funny, heard the boss going to hire another consultant his ex army friend in... So many useless old folks. Seriously. The young one also follow suit. Slack. Quiet quitting |

Those come early now going to canteen to eat breakfast and socialise. Before the M1 boss come at 9 am. Life is relax and good here |

Just trying to ask about my observation.
Am I the only one who feels that the managers from ST are quite incompetent compared to those we see in MNCs in general. Even the senior engineers in ST are also quite incompetent in general compared to those from MNCs. The higher the position, the more pronounced the incompetence.Sorry if I offended anyone. |
Haha
Quote:
Incompetent one are those who can't get promoted. If they can get promoted, means they are competent and have played the game correctly. You must be a new staff who joined and don't know anything and feels like managers are not helping you. This is the rule of the game, you are hired to do their bidding. You won't be promoted You aren't even in the game. Those playing the games are out lasting you To get promoted, to do less. While you are at the bottom working hard, assuming that promotion is based on talent or merits. Sorry, its based on how long you been with the company and which boss did you suck up to.. Wait till you go to your first town hall etc. All those vp senior vp now like to brag how many years they with the company. 20++ years experience. You join 1 year already want to grow wings and fly? Wait 15 years la. Until those 35 years exp retire. |

Sorry to offend you. Your reply is precisely the reason why I feel that way. I have never worked in ST before but I dealt with ST before. I work in MNCs most of my life so I feel that ST employees seems to live in a different universe. They don't understand even common terms used and have no idea how it is like to fulfill the outputs of processes. Went for an interview with ST and I wanted to leave within the first 5 minutes. I hear stuffs like "ask customer to close one eye" (This one was a huge shock to me), "I don't need to know how to do it as long as my men know how to do it" (I will get sacked if I do that in the MNCs I worked at), "I don't need all those things (essential project related stuffs that are very common in MNCs)" They seem more interested to know if I mind working at their location and using a non-camera phone rather than the details of the job. So I really wonder what do they do at work. When I tried to explain where they went wrong during the interview albeit done respectfully, they get very defensive like how you got. |

Unfair company

If can get paid to do nothing. Why do anything? Just hire outsource staff to do it for you. Then when you dont need their service anymore just don't renew the contract. |

Benefits
May I check the benefits of ST engineering? Is it true that there are no FLEXI benefits and only 14 days AL across all the ranks? Entering as M1. Thanks!

During the reorg back in 2019, many benefits for new perm staff have been removed. If you see the old birds and their benefits, you will feel you lose out a lot. |

Unfair pay
Quote:
Meanwhile a new principal engineer who joined this year only 6.5k. E5 getting 5k. HR has no control and standardised pay grade. Doesn't make sense a lower grade earn more than 2 grades higher. |

Plus it Possible ar, there is alway the ITE and poly hire, which their rank might cap at senior engineer. So the company just give them annual increment lor. But whether go 9k, I dun really believe. If you join 15 year ago, even a degree holder is around 2.5-2.9k. That mean you had a 6k plus increment for 15 yr. Normally st traditional increment is 2 digit lain the past. How you get that 6 k increment. |
