what is this mx12 mx11?

i'll be brutally honest. u can get past their interview stage in Civil Service (CS) and get an offer den reply here. they usually dont take in candidates from pte uni. and even if they call u down for interview, u will be up against the best candidates that our local unis have to offer bcos school of business is the most popular among singaporeans.

the minimum entry criteria is usually a Second Class Upper from NUS/NTU/SMU. unless u are applying for some ministries/statboards that require a specialised skillset.
i haven't seen any successful ppl in CS from SIT/SUTD/SUSS/SIM:GE/Kaplan/MDIS. my definition of successful is earning at least 5.5k to 6k before 35yo.

just to answer your question, the MX rank is the most generic rank used for deg holders in CS.

MX13 = entry lvl for deg holder
MX12 = u pass 2 years probation / contract and are emplaced into perm scheme
MX11 = probably a make or break deal to decide if u will jump into semi-superscale before retirement
MX10 = the max of your salary scale crosses 5-digits
MX9 aka Superscale = congrats your basic salary is now 5-digits. only 5% of ppl in the same dept as u have this rank. unless u are at HQ or smth...

the above is probably equivalent to your banking & finance (B&F) side of:

financial analyst / asst manager i suppose?
associate / manager?
AVP
VP
P
board of directors / shareholders of a listed bank in SG

u kinda get the picture....

element of luck involved. if your dept has no scholars and u are willing/chosen to take on key appointment holder (KAH) positions ahead of 2.1/2.2, i'll say there's a high possibility that u could reach MX10 before retirement. most ordinary degree holders dont even get a chance to smell MX10 before retirement.

severely inaccurate especially for MX12 and 13. i had frens from SMU biz (i didnt ask his class of honours) getting offered low to mid-3k from MHA ICA. and that was way back in 2010.

your salary scale looks more suitable for the prehistoric dinosaur age or girls in skirts without NS LOLOL

add-on: the SMU biz fresh grad male friend with NS i mentioned joined MHA ICA in 2010 as a MX13 and was alr offered low-to-mid 3k monthly. it was also his first full-time job.

Hello, question here regarding progression. Current trajectory looks like this:

2011: MX13 (Joined CS) (Age 26: Gross 3600)
2012: MX 12
2013: MX 12
2014: MX 12
2015: MX 11
2016: MX 11
2017: MX 11A
2018: MX 11A
2019: MX 11 A
2020: MX 10 (Age 35: Gross 9000)

Current age 35 and reached MX 10 within 9 years of joining civil service. Thinking if I should take on another career or carry on with current job. Not sure of CEP and if can hit MX9. Any advice from kind souls on the progression of the career so far?

I see this list used very often. Is it basic or gross salary?

Hello all! I hear a lot of people saying that going into the CS as a local fresh grad is a waste of your youth. Is that true?? I thought CS pays very well compared to the average worker in the private sector..
