What are the ministries/stat boards that generally pay the highest? Based on what I've read, it seems to be MFA and EDB. I honestly don't know what I want to do with my life and I have no interest in any particular job, so I thought I'd just try for the highest-paying government jobs. Any suggestions?

Also, would $4k be too much to ask?

one dollar is too

Edb big bonus but starting for associates was 3.8x for fresh grad 2.1 and so first may be higher. Highest is uniformed sign on, almost 5 - 5.5 for ur qualification. Haha. Yes otherwise is mfa, shud be ard 4.5-5 for FCH.

My friend fch ns lta offered 4 in policy roles, and free 120 for mrt each mth lol

Consider DXO if there’s things there that interest you. They also pay relatively well, my friend was offer 4+ for FCH NS but lesser then uniformed haha

My psc scholar friend got the same as our group.

I think progression is faster (cause their cep is higher) and performance bonuses are usually bigger for them (ie, package is bigger).

Other than higher CEP, whats in the 'bigger' package? Do they get Public Service Leadership proyramme allowance?

Not sure about the PSLP allowance. Usually scholars are groomed, so they usually take the top tiers of performance ranking unless the F up big time. So their package is relatively big i guess?

I guess we didnt ask about PSLP allowance cause all fresh grad haha and just started last year.

Not so high for uniformed. Only 4+ for normal FCH until they become captain which is about 5.5 for FCH.

You become a cpt the year after when you pass all the ippt and stuffs. Most people will progress to be a captain.

If one doesnt make it. Then thats really sad.

I applied for the position of deputy manager / manager post at LTA but was verbally offered as a grade 7 assistant manager instead of the title I was interviewed. Can any kind soul advise who decide on the title given to me? The HR or hiring manager? TIA!

Unregistered 13-07-2019 11:41 PM

DXO related (different scheme) can give ~5k for fresh grad. Have a arts major friend with FCH who has that offer. I heard that they usually ot a lot though. Something along the lines of 7pm - 10pm is normal. Not worth it in my opinion.

it's your profile and experience - for fresh grad and <3 years of work experience, the CS usually emplace people on the assistant manager post instead.

what about the salary?

I got my degree later while working in the private sector and is holding a non-degree holder or not executive post. I have 9 years of working experience and was offered the salary of $3900 in LTA.

Your annual increment is $500 on average. This is really fast. Some may not even hit 6k after 10years

Unregistered 15-07-2019 09:21 PM

Manager

Applied as SM but got M instead. Pay wise not significant increase from current
Possible to nego with hr or is it set in stone?

Sometimes other than work experiences, it also depends how mich confidence the interviewers have in you to do an SM job. So put you as M first to see how you perform.

when the earlier poster sai pay wise not much diff, I'm not sure if poster considered the total package as civil service total package may be more than his earlier total pay package.

I see, thanks for your sharing. I was pegged to superscale cep, maybe that's why. But I believe my increments moving fwd will be much lesser. Seems like average performers can only get $200+ increase.

Unregistered 19-07-2019 11:26 AM

It's quite sad that the pay has not been revised since 2015 while the cost of living has gone up yearly. For a $100 to $200+ yearly increment, we are sometimes getting less and less pay (in real terms) each year!

-an MX non scholar
