If you are working in stat board, it is just like working in SAF.
I remember some of the top civil servant have said:

When it come to time of storm, the foreigner talent "fled" while they themselves stay to fight the war.

I'm have nothing against FT or anyone but if i look at the other way, these FT are make the scapegoat during "storm" (forced to leave and put all blame onto them) while these so call top civil servant/ top leaders seized the opportunity to score points.
(Of course they themselves are not the one doing the actual job but arrow those below them to pian for them)..... That's life in civil service and our so call LEADERS doing public service. :(

Job satisfaction : Ok, got sense of achievment in term of project work and outcome

Now - 38 year old .

Stat board : Airport
Starting pay was $3.7K in 2007
Now $4.7K gross monthly salary (doesnt include the bonuses).
Average performer: Every year default C grade (1.5mth PB)
Employment: 2years + 3 years contract (Not even perm)
Job satisfaction : Lousy, alot of backstabbing, non-ethical because of PB. Bosses just want to protect own backside. Different team within division will try to push responsiblity to the others when things happen. Job is more focus on writting "beautiful" essay (may be non-ethical and does not reflect the actual situation) to get extra funding and pushing responsibility to other party. The main objective/ motto is : As long as the ball is not in my court, it none of my business. If something happen, pass the hot potato to someone else.

1k over 3 years is very good increment (and this is only for a C grader). Especially when the economy wasn't that good the last couple of years. Airport seems to pay v well.

If any of you are in, may i know what is your starting pay and in which industry?

I'm looking into entering People's association, i have previously worked in a related stat board for 4 years with my diploma.

Appreciate if someone can give me a reply. thanks!

If you are talking about the PA, a fresh grad guy with NS gets about 2.9k basic. If you have to work shifts or stuff, then add another 450 allowance...

Science is a crappy industry! I'm 31yrs with an MSc. Worked 2yrs with part-time BSc, 6yrs with my MSc and I'm only earning $3.8 now. And to think I'm considered an above average performer. This is what I call pathetic!
And when I switched job last year, HR can tell me that I'm already being paid better than my peers at my age.

I'm a 28 yrs old science degree holder(pass with merit). Work for 6 years in the private sector. Currently earning only $3.8k per mth. If include bonuses and AWS, my annual income is about $62k for this yr.

My gross pay seems v little as compared to pple in the civil service.. Saw some posting, there are civil servants who earn $4.5k to $5k after working a few yrs. hmm.. I actually tried applying for civil service job in 2006/2007 and was accepted. However I was given a low starting pay of $2.9k and need to work shifts during weekends and evenings. Basic pay without shift allowance is only $2.5k. Even when I apply for teaching, they only offered me $2.5k. So decided to stay with current job.

Wonder when can i even earn $5k per mth? Seems so far to reach... After looking at this forum, was wondering whether I can try applying for civil service job again.. The pay scale seems much better than before.

Are you a scientist or a teacher? Most of my brainiest ex-classmates end up with pathetic pay. Moral: you don't have to top the class to make the most money. In fact luck would go against you!

27 this year, female, graduated in mid-06 with 2nd upper hons (NUS), non-scholar (to state the obvious). started in a stat board with $2.8k, currently drawing $3.9k in civil service.

i'd say this is pretty average.
