OP here, just a normal statboard, not transport, not engineering, not in those professional schemes like economist or legal etc also. My basic isn’t very high, but I have some extra lump sum bonuses here and there for some scheme. So including the bonuses, it adds up.

Thanks for elaboration. As some one on an MX scheme equivalent, I can tell u that whatever you are on is much better than MX.

I am looking to join civil / public role for more work life balanced and stability
I am close to 40 yrs old and earning annual income of $240k
Hoping to get 10% increment, what is my bracket in terms of MX scheme and what role should I be applying for?

Don’t bother applying. That level is super scale level which they will never give to an outsider.

You are probably an MX10, SAD or DD. That's reasonably well at 39, considering you have 6 more years to be considered for a Director role. So chin up, and keep giving them reasons to bump you up!

Outside of whether they will give you the role, the civil service will unlikely be able to match your pay unless you bring some specialised skills like finance/economics/tech/cyber security etc. Even then, you need to be Director level, and a seasoned Director.

Minister Chan shared in Parliament recently that civil service senior management (i.e. Directors and above) earn between 200 to 260k. 200k is probably for a young Director, 40-45 years of age. So at your current wage you are already earning maybe a 50s Director age.
