I'm at my 7th year of service, just promoted to GEP5. Increment was around 545 (including merit increment).

Last year's merit increment was 260. So it seems like the promotion increment is around twice of the merit increment.

This would mean you had B graders merit increments to bridge the salary. I have friends who only hit geo 4 only at their 8th or even 9th year..

Even as geo 4, their salary is still below $6k.. Only geo 3 is guaranteed provided one doesn't do silly things.. Geo 4 and 5, it depends on your performance already.

For you to confront your P, I think it's a strict no no in civil service. But then I may be wrong.

The fastest I have seen for a geo2 to 4 would be 4 years, even for ladies. Your CEP has a part to play also.. At the closed section of the wr form is the part which is not revealed to JH, your SLs together with your ROs will decide whether or not to recommend you for promotion..
