Is Senior Manager the maximum level you can go by being an office “worker”? And further progression is more sales-based like having the connections to bring in customers?

Lol if I wanted a sales based role I go be salesman or marketing in the first place.

Or if you have those connections, you don’t really need to depend or beg the firm for promotion right? They will be rushing to promote you.

You will likely be stuck at Manager if you are not seen to have those skills.

Get out of your small-minded thinking, who the heck is going to pay you good money for crunching numbers and managing a bunch of grunts whose average lifespan in the firm is like 2-3 years?

Coming from yellow we are trying to make people with interests in technical role or SME.
So you could probably reach SM3.

The problem is we have too many sales folks but not enough to deliver.

And yes if you are good you dont need to be afraid of promotion. Your partner should be afraid that you get poach.

BTW I am a incoming M in Yellow. I have no sales target. Focusing on technical work and act as SME for complex project.

Not from Audit, from advisory. But from my general understanding overall for the firm practice.

So what your managing and the revenue is park under you. Yes so the audit fees is part of sales or business that you need to get as part of your quota.

If you can consistently bring in new audit clients and get audit .. or get key clients. then you will have a higher figures. that the diff between partner and managers.
Partners are around millions... as sales target.

How do they get all these clients? Means must go poach right

Do assurance SM also have to get sales targets ?

I think most SM are drawing about 12k-14 k at the highest pay grand end .
Heard EY paid a huge PB ~ 4 months

Correct me if im wrong, My understanding is that junior partners dont have " equity" but are merely paid a higher salary of about 16-29 k pm. They are not considered true partners in that sense. Heard the "true" EQUITY partners are the ones who are the senior partners or Expats.

Logically, all big 4 promote so many people to partners each year and the older existing partners are still around and not retiring. It makes so sense that so many hundreds of people have EQUITY priviledge. The ones who get to " buy into the firm" are a selected few
