That depends. C is a large band designed to contain 75% of the staff population. It's usually differentiated to distinguish the good from the not so good 'C' graders. Therefore, the PB will be differentiated too.

Stat Board PB

Hi

Any idea if all stat boards get PB at the same time?

Does anyone know which stat board staff have not gotten their PB yet?

Thanks!

Nope. Not promoted this year. I was just an average performer for the first 2 years.

A bit out of norm, though not impossible. C, C, then suddenly A. Hearing from my network so far, only scholars manage to score 'A' in ministries, though 'A' is more common in stat boards (usually staffed by non-scholars, except top management, ie. less competition). Your ministry boss will need to write 'tons of reports & showcasing' to achieve that. Also typically, you'll get 1st promo after 2 yrs.

Hi! New to this forum and getting a little confused...May I ask, is there a different quantum for a grade? Came across this post:

MX 12 C = base 1.0 - 1.5

Does this mean for it's not the same across the board for all C graders? I (naively) thought that all C's will get a standard 1.5 months...

thanks for enlightening :)

Unregistered 08-04-2012 04:08 PM

joined a stat board in 2010.

2011- B grade 4.2 mths pro-rated to 1.75 mths
2012- C grade 2 mths.

I saw my 2012 grades before it went for ranking, my boss and boss'boss gave me B. Somehow the rankings made my grade drop 2 grades from B to C.

anyone had similar exp? kena dropped 2 grades due to rankings ?!

Not sure for stat board. Ranking is meant for moderation across the board. Depend on how your boss fights for you. He might 'fight' for you but he could be fighting even harder for your colleagues. Some grades have to be re-adjusted when the bell curve comes in. In ministries' SAR, the grade is on the closed section. Only your boss would know what grade he put in for you, even your Reporting Officer (RO) won't know (unless you report to him directly). It's done this way since it is not confirmed and to avoid subsequent "disappointment".

Depend on individual agencies, as they are packaged differently. Usually for ministries, MX C is typically 1.5 month as base.

Bad year for banking professionals despite record earnings

Many local banks freeze or reduce increment and bonuses despite some of them earning very strong/record revenue unscathed by the financial crisis. I had 0 increment and bonuses. :(

A few of my peers got retrenched in foreign banks and people in Finance and accounting and backoffice are getting paid lesser and lesser. I'm sure a lot of my peers won't mind switching to other industries.

Gotta wait for the next election year for bigger bonuses. Meanwhile, be realistic.

Unregistered 04-08-2012 01:55 AM

Hi, can I ask, if I want to make sure I get my December NPAA + VC, when is the earliest I can tender my resignation? 1 Dec? 31 Dec? 1 Jan?

Same question if I want to wait for March PB, when is the earliest I can tender?

only tender after the $$$ have been deposited into your bank account!!! ie 10th of dec (pay day of civil servant), this is the safest

Unregistered 04-08-2012 10:51 PM

first day of the following month. if not they can still deduct from you salary during notice period.

Unregistered 05-08-2012 10:39 AM

So that means 1st Jan for the Dec NPAA and VC?

They may ask you to refund them the bonus, cos the requirement is that you need to stay till end Jan.

wolver 07-10-2012 08:25 PM

I am currently with a Ministry.

Anyone knows if let's say if i apply for a position in a stat board and got accepted now, will i still be entitled to my year end 13mth civil service bonus and also the performance bonus in March next year?

How will the transfer process from Ministry to stat board be like?

Grateful for advice on this. Thanks!

government pay out bonus
-april, PB - 1.5-2.5
-july, mid year bonus - 0.5
-dec, end year - 1 aws + approx(0.5-1)

total per year = minimum 3.5 mth dependent on economy too

so annual package in government = 12+3.5 = 15.5mth

I have a biz degree from nus, which ministry offer best prospect?

Well, which Ministry offer best prospects depends on what is your class of honors. If you are well spoken and 1st class or 2nd upper, can try those Min who are in CBD area since they are usually considered the core Mins. The rest soon moving out of CDB area so its likely considered non core in our masters' eyes.

Henney 15-10-2012 04:07 PM

I'm just slightly above average type, and i'm contemplating if I should be a servant for the nation. haha because if you're not 1st class or at least 2nd upper as a civil servant, getting a promotion is like getting a windfall.

Depends on your ambition.

If you are $$ driven, better not as CS can disillusion people fast given their slow slow tortoise slow progression for farmers.

While 1st class and 2nd upper can net you promo faster, it also depends on performance and there are people with no honors being promo if they are 'hard working' (subject to interpretation) and well liked (carry balls). I know a case where buying chicken rice for the boss often really gave someone a leg up the ladder (combining hard work [knowing to buy favorite chicken rice] and being well liked [buy lunch for boss]).
