Everyone complain about CS being hung up about bonuses. While the entire country is on lockdown, your CS go to work and have to work even harder cos so many entitled Singaporeans complaining and demanding CS work harder for them.
When times are good, people say CS slack = don't deserve bonus. When times are bad, people say CS should stand in solidarity = don't deserve bonus. Macam CS not common Singaporeans who also need to bring back food to the table. When times are good, CS work as per normal alike other Singaporeans. When times are bad, CS works even harder to ensure the country operates as per normal.. yet kena scolded. Really left right also wrong. Quote:

You are correct. I fully agree.

yup, got mine result too. a bit lower than last time
|
5% cut is reasonable I guess. And it is cut to MI and PI only. Not overall salary. So not that bad.

I graduated many years ago and my first job was in CS. My friends ridiculed my decision then; "aiyo, why join gahment", "CS no future leh". They drew good salaries in PS and enjoyed fat bonuses. When we met up for gatherings, I was envious of their big and flashy cars and beautiful companions.
I spent some years in CS before moving to PS in the banking and engineering sectors to feel how it was like in the PS. It was always my intention to return to CS to share my wisdom gained in PS. Then bad times fell like a warhammer on unsuspecting heads. The world economy was hemorrhaging like a gutted open wound. Gurus littered the internet like virtual prophets of doom. I was fortunate enough to return to CS even though it involved a pay cut. What happened? Those friends who ridiculed me for joining CS came running to me; "eh, got lobang for me?", "can get me into CS?", "pls help me, I'm desperate". Gone were the big and flashy cars and beautiful companions. In their place were final reminders for bills due and divorce papers. And they forgot having ridiculed me those many years back. I really felt for them and tried to help. Alas, I couldn't as CS also had severe budget cuts for headcount. I believe I managed to rejoin only because of a restructuring and some headcount actually became available due to the agency ending up having to handle more scope. That's a bit of my chequered history. Anyway, don't be too glad if CS makes pay cuts across the board. PS may take the opportunity to say "see, gahment ownself cut pay, the situation must be damn jialat, we better follow suit". Win lor, PS complainers ownself sabo. Quote:

I thought CS are so holy and hardworking. Why got time to come to salary forum to compare thickness of pay grade?
It's like people who join ministry. Ministry as in religious... But so obsessed with their pay grade rather than on the religious teaching... Yeah civil servant. Please serve. You are my servant. |

Why non public servants even enter this forum is beyond me. If this is for like minded people to share grievances or general info, then there is no place for trolls. OP, you pay tax, we also pax tax. So stop thinking you're on a high horse and GTFO.

If you are going to raise the GST and more taxes to cover for this shortfall, then the least you could do is climb down from your ivory tower and offer an explanation as to the missing billions spent which the average Singaporean hasn't benefited from. It must be a very flavourful and rich gold tap-like cake that the civil servants are eating from! |
Urge all actual civil servants to stop taking part in this bickering session. Don’t throw face anymore pls.
For those reading, no one can be sure that those posting here are actual civil servants. Don’t let a few names sully our reputation. |
Civil servant should know that salary and bonus and merit and promotion are all confidential matters that should not be shared among colleagues or in public forum such as this.
